With the opening day of the season for the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad running to Silverton this coming Saturday, it's only fitting to post the progress pictures of the track clearing we were able to do for them this year.
Even with the amount of snow we did receive this winter, the avalanche areas were pretty minor compared to 2019 when we cleared the tracks last.
With the warm weather we received several weeks ago and some other hiccups that put us behind we were finally able to open the line all the way to Silverton.
This week we have been cleaning up some problematic mudslide areas that needed extensive work.
As always, we can't thank the Harper family enough for allowing us to do the work for them and the crews and staff at the DSNG!
Building demos don't tend to happen very often in our area, but we were fortunate enough to do two of them recently. Taking care of everything from state and local permits, asbestos testing and removal to the demo and haul off we offer full turnkey demolition services.
We always enjoy working with the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. They had a small portion of track washout near elk park south of Silverton several months back. They called asking if we could repair it before snowfall. We got up there, installed two 36" culverts to act as an overflow to prevent this from happening again. The track is getting put back in today and they will be ready for next year's season!
With all the craziness going on the past several months, we hope everyone has been staying safe and had a good year so far. Here's a look at a few of the projects we have been working on throughout the summer.
Today we busted out a valve replacement for the City of Durango. The old valve was unable to open all the way restricting the amount of water it was allowing through. In and out the same day, curb and gutter get re-poured tomorrow. Hope everyone had an awesome Monday!
We knocked out two sewer lines this week for a couple of happy customers. Replacing the old collapsed orangeburg pipe with 4" sch40 from the City main to under the house.
We offer directional boring so no need to have to tear up your entire yard and the city street to get a new water, sewer or gas line to your house. Like our page and mention you saw this add and we'll be offering 5% off our directional boring pricing for the month of June π
Headed to Denver with this good looking push/pull 627H scraper! Hope everyone has had an awesome year!
Big thanks to Tyson at Wagner Equipment Co. for the invite to play at the annual API golf tournament. The guys definitely had a blast! From left to right: Martin Meador with Bonds Construction, Tyson Ferron with Wagner equipment, Garrett Bonds, and John Harper with the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
We hope everyone had a good memorial day, and took time out of your day to remember all of the fallen heroes πΊπΈπΊπ²πΊπΈ
Fourty-two avalanche/sluff areas and fourteen miles later, we finished clearing the track to Silverton. Over two weeks ahead of schedule to top it off. This was definitely a cool project to be a part of and can't thank the Harper family and Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad enough for trusting us to get the job done.
Update on the avalanche we have been clearing to open the tracks for the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Just under a week and the first slide is officially cleared. For safety reasons we weren't able to work long hours, due to the fact that the warming temperatures can cause the the slide to move again. Now we head up the tracks toward Silverton clearing the tracks to the next avalanche area. Hope everyone enjoys these pictures!
A little avalanche clearing pictures for ya. First day spent moving machines up to the slide area, and today was the first day starting to clear the first large avalanche. We are using a dozer assisting the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad crews due to the amount of snow. More drone photos to follow this week as we push through this slide
Is everyone as excited as we are about this warmer weather!? We're gearing up to kick off the excavation side of things now that the snow is melting. Here are a few shots of what our shop typically looks like when we are doing repairs/servicing our equipment. Keeping everything clean and in good working order is a top priority for us!
Nothing wrong with a little fun on a Saturday right? π€£ We got a call late Friday afternoon from a company here in Durango asking for help getting a man lift pulled out. The company was afraid with the weather that was rolling in it may jeopardize the machine if it was left over the weekend. So, what do you do when you have an awesome team? You offer your services and make sure the job gets done. Not only did we get the man lift pulled out in a timely manner, but the company that had canceled the order on the man lift, decided to keep it because we got it out and to their well site. Good weekend for everyone π
It has been nonstop for snow removal this year! From our routine plow jobs and hauling snow off from parking lots, pushing off at the city snow dump site, to widening subdivision roads. Give us a call if there is anything we can help you out with!
Even in the dead of winter we still offer our hydro excavation and jet rodder services. If you are digging around any live utilities this is definitely the safest and quickest way to go. We exposed 20' of sewer line that crossed directly over an 8" water main for another contractor pictured here. Like our page and mention you saw this add and for the month of February we will offer 10% off our hydrovac/ jet rodder services π
We would like to take a moment and thank everyone for the continued support and wish everybody a Happy New Year! 2019 has already kicked off to a good start for us, also bringing some much needed snow. Here's to the coming year! ππ
I haven't had time to get on and post anything lately so here's a post of one of our transport trucks pulling the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad/Bonds Construction snowdown float at last years parade. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
Here are several pictures of a culvert we cleaned out last week. This thing was buried under 15' of mud on the upper end and nobody even knew it was there. We figure it had been plugged for the last 25 years or so talking with some of the railroad employees that have worked there a long time. We put over 20k gallons of water at this thing with our jet rodder to clear it, but its flowing good now π
We have officially come to an end on this portion of the track work. It has been quite the project trying to juggle between our regularly scheduled work, but we were able to meet the deadline and get the train running on time. There is still quite a bit of work to be done cleaning up along the track but we can work on that while the trains are running. We can't thank the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and the Harper family enough for allowing us to work on this project with them.
A quick update on the track repair for the Durango & Silverton railroad. We currently have both 8' diameter culverts installed and are working on bringing the material up to track grade. Our crews have been working 7 days a week to get the train running as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, the location of the washout can't be accessed by your average dump truck very well so we have had to haul all materials down with an offroad haul truck. It is time consuming but we have to get material down one way or another. We are anticipating getting a lot done this weekend and getting the train back in service mid week next week. I will post more recent pictures soon.
Here are some progress photos of what we've been working on with the Durango & Silverton train. More photos to come once the project moves forward, as we are waiting on several big culverts to be made and shipped to us π
Nice little job we did for the Division of Wildlife last friday. They were having some drainage issues above bodo park when it would rain. So, we cleaned out the settlement ponds and tuned up the ditches to help keep the water from pushing over the ditch banks. I have to say it's a pretty good view from up there too! It's always a pleasure working with these guys!
