About Joshua Rowsey: Rowdy was an educator, performer, and community activist based in the North Carolina Triangle Area. An alumnus of UNC-Chapel Hill, he taught rap and MC lessons with the Carolina Hip Hop Institute and the Community Music School. His influence reached far and wide, with features on BET, NPR, and PBS Kids, and a TEDx talk on the importance of Hip Hop Culture. As part of No9to5 Music and J Rowdy & The Night Shift, he shared stages with legends like Busta Rhymes and Ari Lennox.

His passion for hip-hop extended beyond the stage. He served as a U.S. Hip Hop Ambassador, created two Triangle Area cyphers, and was the executive director of the Downtown Durham Afrofuturist teen center Blackspace. His mission to spread Southern Hip Hop at national and international levels was tireless and inspiring.
