This is a community event remembering Jodi Lynn Koviach who died from lung cancer in October 2021. Jodi loved running and even more the community and camaraderie it provides. Her friends and family believe there is no better way to honor her memory than by having this run, which symbolizes so much of what she valued AND supports a great cause! The race is a chip-timed 5K run or walk with finishers' awards, t-shirts, and post-race food and refreshments.

As a doctor, I didn’t think much of acupuncture. Then the opioid crisis arrived I had often heard of acupuncture as an alternative treatment for pain, but I had dismissed it. But I also knew that my patients deserved an alternative to opioids.

See, even babies get acupuncture! Check out the new documentary on pediatric acupuncture: Getting To The Point! Hopefully, very soon, all hospitals will offer acupuncture as an option for their patients- kids and adults!

Acupuncturists - See the Film You Helped to Create!

Funded by more than 200 acupuncturists from around the world (and some of my patients) the groundbreaking ANF produced documentary, “Getting to the Point” Episode One is now available for viewing. “Children’s Hospital of Orange County” is the first documentary that shows acupuncture being used in a leading children’s hospital in the treatment of seriously ill children.

We will release this film on the ANF website and YouTube channel for free viewing in May to coincide with brain cancer awareness month as the two children chronicled in this film are brain cancer survivors. For now, we are offering acupuncturists pre-release viewing of the film plus two extra bonus features for just $10USD as part of our fund drive to raise money to promote this film and start filming the next episode.

The extra materials include a recording of a 30 minute live panel discussion with the film’s award-winning Director Doug Dearth, CHOC hospital Acupuncturists Ruth McCarty, Neurosurgeon William Loudon, and me, the film’s creator and Executive Producer. This panel discussion was hosted by the ANF’s former VP, Kath Berry who also conducted an excellent 30 minute interview with pediatric acupuncturist extraordinaire, Ruth McCarty. Ruth discusses details of the protocols she has refined over 17 years of working on seriously ill children in every department of a leading children’s hospital. Kath is hosting this film package on her TreatingChildren.com website until April 30th.

It has been a long road getting this film ready for release but it has also been well worth it. I believe this documentary is the best thing ever put on video about acupuncture especially in depicting what well-trained acupuncturists can accomplish in modern healthcare.
