This Black History Month, we remember Clara Brown, a freed slave who became the first person to found a commercial laundry business in Colorado. In 1859, Brown left Virginia and crossed the Colorado plains during the Gold Rush. Once she settled outside of Denver, she started her very successful laundry. Brown was a Black pioneer, the first African American woman in Denver, a community leader, and a philanthropist. She also ran a business selling meals to settlers and used those profits to invest in real estate and mines. She then used those earnings to help formerly enslaved folks relocate to the West.

This February, let's honor Clara Brown's legacy and other moments of influential Black history. Join us in acknowledging the significance of this month by learning, sharing, and uplifting the stories that make Black history an integral part of our collective heritage.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year. EverGreen participated for the first time this year and had an incredible turnout from our employees! We had everything from clothing to a hoverboard. Thank you to all those who participated in giving back to our community!
