In case you haven’t already heard, I am really excited about my good friend Chris Holloway taking over at PICNIC. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m grateful for every minute of it.

I’ve met so many wonderful people be they customers, employees, vendors, or industry folk. Thank you all so much for the love and support you’ve shown me through the years. I know I’ll miss the many special moments that come with running a barbecue restaurant.

With Chris at the pit and in the kitchen, Picnic has a really bright future. Chris and I share the same barbecue philosophy, and he will bring new energy and fresh ideas to the table. And though leaving is bittersweet, I can’t think of anyone better to carry on the whole hog tradition.

Because he’s a great bartender, his allegiance tonight is for sale to the highest bidder. So no matter who you’re pulling for, Elliott’s bar is a safe space. Go Heels!!

Beat the heat with our gorgeous Summer Salad! Heirloom tomato, red onion, watermelon, fresh basil and crumbled feta on a bed of local greens. Eat as many tomatoes as you can while you can, ‘cause they’re probably the best thing about summer!

New Orleans comes to Durham! Check out our twist on a pork rib debris po boy. Fallen-off-the-bone spare ribs tossed in special barbecue sauce, with lettuce, tomato and topped with salsa verde.
