I’m at the Eagan Art Festival this weekend! (Booth 203) This is a new slip pattern for chip and dip platters. I’m going to use it on some bowls next!

Edina Art Fair today 10-7 and tomorrow 10-5. (Booth 414) I’ve got my best little helper Nori helping today too! It’s going to be a beautiful day after a rainy Friday. I’ve been busy making lots of new work and have candles available at an art fair for the first time too!

Back from Washington DC where I attended a policymakers event with the Meta Business Leaders Network, a group I’ve been a part of since 2020. Unfortunately, I’ve had to turn down other opportunities to join this event in prior years due to my packed schedule, but this year was able to squeeze it in! I met with many other businesses owners, listened to speakers and tried out different products. The highlight was meeting with Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar’s office to discuss small business, privacy, and social media. Michelle also joined me on the trip and it was our first time away without kids in 9 years! I’ve been back a few days now and glazed two kiln loads that I added to my online restock that is currently live on my website! This is my last website restock until at least August as I turn my attention to summer Art Fairs!

Heading into the studio this morning with these pots sun bathing! I’m making the backorder item this weekend and aim to ship them out soon. Michelle is shipping today and many purchases have already gone out! The shop will be open through the weekend! My Spring Restock is live! Head over to my website to take a look. I found two unglazed lidded jars and you can find them in this restock along with a bunch of other work. The new candle scent for spring is Juniper! I’m not sure when my next restock will be so some items I’ve made available as ‘backorder’ like soup bowls, olive oil, kitchen compost and others. The kiln gods have been smiling more than usual lately. (One of my lions even had the dreaded FAIL overnight, but was at just the right time, eek!)

New berry bowls with more holes! These have a detached drip tray underneath. These aren’t very easy to glaze because my runny glazes can potentially fill the holes at the bottom if I apply too much glaze. My first of a dozen out of the kiln for my restock on March 18th! I’m bringing my kitchen compost jars back! One of the things about making so many items as I can’t really keep up on all of them all the time. I introduced these about 3-4 years ago and did a big presale during the pandemic and sold way more than I probably wanted to make, but it was so amazing! Especially when all the shows I had planned on doing were cancelled and like everyone else I was just making things up as I went along! In my March restock I’ll make a few in different colors including this color scheme. Let me know any other items you want to see?!?

Taxes are done, weather is warming up, and I’m thinking spring already! My next round of work will include items like berry bowls, kitchen compost jars and flower pots! I love these longer days and feel productive in the studio. I had many people respond in my story about getting taxes done so early! I do this for a few reasons. First, my life is absolutely packed and I like to get it done during my least busy time of year. Additionally, if my math is wrong and I owe a ton I want to make sure I have time. I’ve been running a business for about 15 years now, so not nearly the surprises there once were but the US tax code has lots to be desired to say the least.

My Valentine’s restock is fast approaching on Feb 5th 6pm CT! To those that are new it’s over on my website linked in my profile. This has been my most productive Jan that I can recall! There’s a real energy to testing new clay and new ideas and with this warmer weather I’m hitting summer form very early! I added a couple bowls with this glaze on my website. This is actually my patina green but on brown clay! If you ever wondered what happened to the brown clay project… I thought I picked the clay I wanted, bought 1500lbs, but it’s not quite right. The patina looks great, but it sort of ends there. I’m pretty far down the rabbit hole with an extra wheel, pugmill, and all the other equipment so I’m not giving up, I just took a break. It’ll all come together when it’s supposed to. Let’s talk Burnout! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked, especially recently as I’ve been working almost around the clock if I get burned out? The quick answer is yes. Am I burned out currently? No. Last year at the same time I was and it made it really hard to create work for the holidays. I know myself well and purposely added new things to make to keep myself excited and it absolutely worked! I’ve really enjoyed this massive making cycle and it’s been the most productive and best work I’ve created. I’d love to bottle that momentum and feeling, but i’m also content to just feel good today. Looking forward to seeing many of you at Holiday Home Studio Sale this Saturday 10-6!
