Just Off the Frame... 30 years in the making. Glad I was able to help my customer finish the journey.

I have had several request for information on The Alaska quilt done by one of my students. Here is a short video I filmed during covid that shows a condensed version of using my Duluth Storm pattern.

Oh Boy! Here is a email I received from AQS. They don't show our whole quilt but I think the cover art work using parts of the quilt are fun.

It is very exciting to be a "Cover Girl."

SUMMER AND FALL RETREATS

The Quilting Page has openings available for upcoming quilting retreats. The retreats are a good way to meet other quilters and share in the abundance of intellectual knowledge from fellow quilters.

We have openings for Thursday, July 11 through Sunday, July 14, 2024, as well as Thursday, August 29 through Monday, September 2, 2024 (Labor Day weekend). The retreats are being held at Bridge Creek Cottage in Augusta, Wisconsin. This facility is about 2 hours from the studio (south of Osseo about 15 miles).
Bridge Creek Cottage is a converted Mennonite family farm home. It is very comfortable and accommodates 20 quilters. The bedrooms are set up with 2-3 twin or double beds. The workroom has 2 walls of windows for lots of natural light, each quilter has a six-foot table and chair. Irons, ironing boards, and cutting boards are available. Bedding and towels are provided. The facility is situated within the trees with a lovely creek running behind the facility.

The retreat cost $225 which includes a pre-paid $25.00 deposit which will hold your spot at the retreat. The deposit must be paid early to reserve your spot. The cost includes meals from dinner of the first night through lunch of the last day. Breakfast is a self-serve Continental light meal. Lunch is a choice of soup, make your own sandwich or make your own salad. Dinner is a heavier meal such as Grilled Chicken Caesar Salads, Lasagna, or Top Your Own Baked Potato. Desserts are not planned given all the treats people bring to share. We can accommodate most dietary restrictions. Please let us know in advance so that we can be sure to meet your needs. Additionally, you will be a “kitchen helper” for one meal during the retreat.

Please email Theresa Miedema at [email protected] to reserve your place at the retreat(s). Theresa will provide information on the payment process.

07/31/2023

The Quilting Page in Eagan, MN., is hosting a Labor Day Weekend Retreat and we have 3 openings. This is a very unstructured informal retreat. Most of us have learned to bring simple projects to work on because conversations and side trips for fabric shopping often distract us from the quilting project of a lifetime. At the same time think of how much experience and knowledge is in the room. Let us know if you have questions or would like a demo on something – someone will likely have run into the same problem at least once before.

We can offer a beginner quilt project using Terry Atkinson’s Lucky Stars pattern if you have a friend or family member who wants to learn how to quilt. One of us will be a willing guide over the weekend to work with a new quilter while you share time away from the daily activities of home. There will be a fee of $10 for the pattern. We have some guidelines for fabric purchases to help a beginner quilter and at least

The retreat cost is $225 for 3 nights (Thursday - Sunday) and $250 for four nights (Thursday - Monday). This includes meals from dinner of the first night through lunch of the last day. We can accommodate most dietary restrictions if you let us know in advance.

You will be a “kitchen helper” for 1 meal during the retreat. Most food is prepped and ready for finishing prior to service. Kitchen tasks include heating and final layout of the meal items in a buffet style, service of the meal and final cleanup of the dishware and kitchen.

You are welcomed to bring a snack to share (sweets, chips, fruit, appetizers...). Bring your personal beverage of choice (yes, adult beverages are welcomed) as we only provide milk, juice and coffee.

All bedrooms are 2 - 4 beds. Private rooms are not available. Please let me know if you need a room on the main floor due to stairs. This room accommodates 4 people so we have to plan for it.

We look forward to meeting you and sharing time together.

Minnesota quilt show was a success. The Quilting Page Studio worked on 13 quilts that hung in the show. Ribbons were awarded to 7 quilts. Congratulations to all the entrants. Thank you for allowing us to Longarm your quilts.

Just off the Frame... Winner Circle a pattern from Glad Creations. I did a Semi-Custom using one of my own patterns.

Semi-Custom gives your quilt custom look with out the wait time and price tag of full blown custom.

One thread color and the pattern goes over the entire quilt just like an overall BUT it fits the piecing and looks CUSTOM

Sherbet On A Cloudy Day by Just Four Friends took home First Place in the Group Quilts category (Sponsored by the Grace Company) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023. Aided by other stitchers Dee Legvold, Mary Reinhardt, Nathan Carter, and Page Johnson, this quilt used Go Bedazzled, Sedona Surprise & Heather Feather Border Collections by Sarah Vedeler, Meaning of Life Designs as its design source. Looking at the quilt makes you just want to share a sherbet with your four friends to drown out the gloominess of the day and partake in the joy and comfort of a delicious treat with its pastel colors and floral designs.

And don t forget to click the Quilt Video tab and watch as Bonnie Browning interviews two of the Just Four Friends group, Dee Legvold and Page Johnson, as they discuss their quilt on the floor of AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023 after their recent win.

I have just added a new video on my website. Look under the what's New tab.

Home and discuss how to make the most of the program. There will be some structured class time to show the techniques. Such as build a blueprint. Most of your work will be at your own pace and on your project.  Help is always there if you get stuck. Final topics will depend on the needs of the attendees...
