The 2024 Spring Classic is a wrap. Congrats to all that caught fish and to our winners. Paul's Pro Am info will be coming out shortly. Thanks to all that contributed to make this a successful tournament.

Here we go!!!!!! Meet our tournament leaders as of Day 1, Christopher Ness and Joe Lopez. Team 90 is in the lead with a double of a 45", which is big fish for Saturday, and 41.25" on a great day of fishing. 34 fish were caught today with 5 doubles. The Chain is producing. There were multiple reports of muskies that didn't eat, but will hopefully eat tomorrow. Congrats to Chris on Joe on a job well done today. Tomorrow could change things though, as there are a number of teams nipping at their heels.

Come on down to Shotskis to see the leaderboard. Leaderboard will be put up here in a little while.

As we thought, fish are eatin today. 18 fish so far, and one double. We are halfway through day 1.

Raffle items for Friday night’s registration!!!! Grandmas, dawgs, custom swimmin dawgs, Spanky’s, mini Medusa, Bucher baits, Smity baits, Suicks, including a thriller with weights, custom bump board and a Lakewood tackle box. On top of that, a custom made St Croix tournament legend 8’6”” musky rod. Raffle tickets will be on sale at registration. During registration at Shotskis, enjoy the band they brought in. Raffle begins at 730. See you all then!!!!

Tomorrow is registration. A couple of things to note: Registration is 5:30 - 7:30pm. You must be paid in full by the time you leave. Rule sheets will be given out and you will have to sign that you have read the rules. At 7:30 pm, we will be raffling off a custom made rod built by Dale Peterson and numerous baits. Must be present to win. See you all tomorrow at Shotkis.

One week to go, and the muskies are starting to heat up on the Chain! Are you signed up yet? There is still time to grab your slot for the Spring Classic.

The weather is warming up, and the lakes are open. Do you have your entry in for the Spring Classic? May 1st deadline is approaching quickly. Please share so others can get in as well. See you all soon!

It may be snowing in the Northwoods, but we're thinking Musky Time!!! Registration is open for the Spring Classic. Registration is available online and you can make your deposit online as well. Pick up your registration at the link below. Just print it out, pay online or send a check to the address on the waiver. The waiver can be mailed or a copy emailed to the tournament director. Plenty of spots still available and make sure to get it in by May 1st for the early bird starting drawing.

Well here we go.....Registration is now open for the 2024 Spring Classic of Champions Musky Tournament. You may follow the link below for a brochure to print out and send in, or scan the QR Code. We will have brochures available at the Central Wisconsin Musky Show as well as the inaugural 2024 Musky Expo located in Watersmeet MI on Saturday, March 2nd. Open water can't come soon enough.

After Paul’s Pro Am this year, Shelley and I have decided to step down as the tournament’s directors.
Over the last 4 years we have really enjoyed getting to know all of you that have fished our tournaments.
One of the Headwaters Chapters newest director, Patrick Schmidt, will be taking over the tournaments. You will still be seeing us either fishing or behind the scenes. We wish Patrick the best of luck as he brings some new and exciting changes for 2024.

The sister tournament to the Spring Classic is just around the corner now. Early entrirs must be postmarked by August 4th. You can print off this for an entry form.

Who will be the first ever Champions of the

Mother Nature did her thing this past weekend in Eagle River. With temps in the 80’s early in the week and water temps in the high 70’s Mother Nature dropped a cold front on us for the Spring Classic.

We started out this years Classic with a moment of silence in remembrance of Musky Bob Jacobs. A Headwaters Director and long time Classic participant.

Saturdays morning start saw temps in the mid 50’s and never hit 60 all day. Light winds led to gusty and very cool winds later in the day. This weather change seemed to get the fish fired up. Just 8 minutes into the start of the tournament the team of Bergner/ Bergner put their first fish in the boat with a 37.5”. Just minutes later Ebben/Molle put a 42.75” in the bag at 7:20. It didn’t take long and Bergner/Bergner would score their second fish of the tournament at 7:30 with a beautiful 44”. A total of 6 fish in the first hour. At 8:05 the team of Bucki/Potocnik would score with a 37” and at 10:18 would bag another one with a beautiful 45” and take the lead and big fish. 11:41 would see the big fish of the day and tournament by the team of Gallant/Michlig with a massive 47.25” Eagle Chain Muskie. Gallant triggered this fish out of the weeds on his Birthday. Happy Birthday Jimmy! At 2:30 Bucki/Potocnik would register their 3rd fish with a 42.25” to increase the lead. In all 22 fish were caught on day one with a combined average of 41 inches proving catch and release does work!
Day two saw mid 40 degree air temps and wind to start the day. Anglers were bundled up like it was October and referred to the tournament as the Fall Classic. Water temps dropped about 5 degrees making it a tough bite. Only 3 fish were caught and only one change to the leader board as Gille/Kiel were able to land a 40” fish landing them in 9 place and big fish for Sunday. We all gathered at Shotskis for the awards and the congratulations.
Way to go and congratulations to all who caught fish in this years tournament. The Headwaters Chapter of Muskies Inc would like to thank all of the anglers for their continued support and we look forward to seeing you at Paul's Pro Am Musky Classic in September.
