Don't miss out on these well-rooted, locally grown, ready to plant beauties. Most trees are just $20 if you order three or more items from this collection. They're a great deal at this price and so much bigger than the seedlings you'll find in the spring.

Order soon as quantities are limited!
In this, our first installment of "Native Alternatives," our resident native plant expert and all-around cool guy Bryan Jackson talks about boxwood. We've had SO MANY questions about sick, dying, dead boxwood plants this season so we thought we'd share some ideas for alternative, native plants that could fill the space.
Do you have any other non-native plants you would like to replace? Let us know! I'm willing to bet Bryan has some ideas...

We're just days away from the third annual East Aurora Garden Walk! Don't miss this opportunity to check out some beautiful properties in the EA area and be inspired by the gardens.
How to get maps:
- access the map online at eagardenwalk.com
- print out the map attached here
- stop by Masterson's any time this week for a printed copy
- pick one up at Hamlin Park the day of the walk
Two things:
1. All herbs are 50% off.
2. Many herbs are perennials.
And for those of you that can never remember the difference between annuals and perennials, a third thing: perennials come back every year.
Pictured: lavender, St. Johnswort, horehound, and sage.
Did the rabbits eat up your garden? Got a few empty spaces in your beds? Forgot to start a veggie garden entirely? All remaining vegetable plants are up for grabs!
Please take only what you can plant and there will be enough for everyone.
Sometimes when a guy pulls up in an unmarked white van...it's Steve and he has some really cool plants!
He brought in some smaller sized native perennials (cardinal flower, Culver's root, liatris, rudbeckia) and a couple of absolutely beautiful buttonbush that have the cutest lil buds on them.
But, the most unique thing that came out of the white van today were the persimmon trees! Just two of them, and they're sure to disappear fast.
Look for the "Habitat Helpers" stickers and signage around the nursery if you're looking for locally grown natives :) They all come from Steve and his white van.
See you soon!
LAST CALL! Hey, EA friends, we know you have amazing gardens. Join this year's Garden Walk and show off your hard work!
Yes, it's a little scary to invite strangers into your space. No, your garden doesn't need to perfect. This is a community of creative gardeners and we're all looking for inspiration and to enjoy outdoor spaces, whatever they may look like.
The map will be finalized soon, so sign up online ASAP to join in the fun this year!

Let's talk about trees for a minute.
Oxygen. Shade. Those are two pretty cool things they provide.
How about native trees? Of course they provide clean air and shade, but SO MANY of them also provide food, shelter, and nesting places for native wildlife.
The sassafras in the first pic is a host plant for spicebush swallowtails and a bunch of other butterflies and moths.
The tulip tree in the second pic is a host for the Eastern tiger swallowtail and the only host for the tulip tree silkmoth caterpillar.
We have a great selection of trees in a 3 gallon sized container, which is a great size to start with. It's not a huge hole to dig, but these guys are significantly larger than the small whips that are available early in the season and transplant beautifully. We have some larger trees, too.
And, pro tip, they're all really well rooted and are going to be repotted into larger containers soon...(Read: they'll cost more).
Stop in and browse the tree section. If you're lucky you'll find Bryan Jackson down there and he'll help you find something you're excited about!
There's a reason that echinacea is always on the list of pollinator garden plants. The reason is that pollinators love them.
More importantly, and the reason I always recommend adding this to a garden, is that they bloom during that hotter, dry part of summer when our nectar and pollen seeking friends have fewer things to choose from. It's a welcome treat for bees and butterflies!
Also, they're pretty photogenic.
Fourth of July Frogs!
We're at the store today (Wednesday) but we'll be closed tomorrow so our staff can enjoy the day.
We're here, in the rain. But we got some very cool new toys to play with!
These cool critters are made by one of our customers and as soon as we met the first frog, we knew we needed them here. Now, we have a hard time keeping them in stock! Lucky for us, he keeps bringing in cool new things, like the hermit crab (who comes completely out of his shell, btw) and the BEE!
We challenge you NOT to play with them next time you're here.
Possibly the most impressive sorting of containers I've ever seen. Kate is good at many things, but this is another level of beautiful organization that I thought needed to be shared.
On that note, we have lots of containers available in our recycling area.
Last chance! Join us tonight for Pigments from Petals - Flower Pounding at Mastersons ! Registration still open, just a few seats left.
Few things are as perfect as a lotus blossom.
If you have a pond, or even a container garden space on a patio, these are a stunning (and hardy) addition. They look amazing right now, too.
We just got in some new beauties from Steve (our exclusive local grower, friend, bookkeeper, and all around neat guy)!
Echinacea purpurea and Monarda didyma, locally grown straight native varieties. Two plants we ALWAYS recommend for pollinator gardens, and obviously a personal favorite of mine.
We have a few extra queens available today! Give us a call at the store if you need one. (716) 655-0133.
We'll all be cheering our Shane on this week as he rides in Iowa!
Holland Resident Competes in National Rodeo - East Aurora Advertiser Holland resident Shane Masterson will be attending the 19th annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo in Iowa later this month.Submitted Image After earning a spot on the New York State National Junior High rodeo team, sixth-grade Holland student Shane Masterson will be traveling to Des Moines, Iowa....
June is a beautiful month to plant perennials. Here are just a few blooming now.
Caterpillar of the day: American Lady butterfly.
Zoie found a bunch of them on the licorice plants today.
So cool.
What does our staff do on super hot days? Well, this is an amazing crew so they just keep doing all the neat stuff they do on any other day.
Bryan and Mike P took a trek around the nursery property, hunting for edible foods that grow in our area. Armed with a neat new book we just got in, we'll see how many things they were able to find.
Dan and Gordon spent the afternoon prepping supplies for a very cool class they'll be teaching tonight at . Participants will learn all about pond ecosystems and build their own container water garden.
We do really love what we do here.
Tell me that's not the cutest lil caterpillar you've ever seen!
Bryan Jackson has been tracking the progress of these spicebush swallowtail caterpillars for a week or so. Guess where he found them? On the spicebush.
If you plant it, they will come.
Still spots left for this magical evening event!
