10 Cafes Stirring Up Lemonade Drinks to Rival Del’s - Hey Rhody Media Co. Sweet refreshers and iced teas taking over menus across the state
8.5 years ago, Lauren was one of the first baristas ever to pour coffee at the Nook. She brought a heart to the job that I could never train into anyone and her love of community eventually gave rise to the EG soup kitchen she created
Last week, I officiated her wedding and never have I ever seen a bride glow brighter than she did. Wishing you all the happiness in the world Lauren, nobody deserves it more.

🌸SPRING MENU🌸 launches Thursday! We’ll be bidding farewell to a few winter favorites so stop in and get them while you can. Which spring latte are you most excited for?
Oftentimes, when I’m working behind the bar, one Nook regular will walk in and see another Nook regular and they’ll strike up a conversation. Sometimes they know each other, other times they don’t. Sometimes the person waiting in line joins in. It is the most mundane thing, but getting to witness people’s paths crossing and the connections made is really the most rewarding part of this whole shebang. We’re all busy, we all have routines, and in spite of all the chaos and noise of our days, there’s still a little room for serendipity. And usually it’s sprinkled with a little humor for good measure.
After some delays, we’re closing up shop early today folks! Sorry for any inconvenience. Stop in tomorrow for our most delicious espresso yet….😉
Who’s been lucky enough to get one of these cup sleeves designed by kiddos from our local schools? 🫶🏽
Did you know that February is Kindness Month? Our Lower Schoolers decorated hot beverage sleeves with inspiring messages and affirmations to spread kindness among our community, and dropped them off to our friends at the Nook in EG!
Did you snag one of these sleeves? Be sure to tag us in a photo and let us know if it made your day a bit brighter 😀

Out of an abundance of caution for our staff, we’re going to be closed tomorrow due to the impending snow. For those of you with kids home from school while you try to work from home, I wish you Godspeed. 🫡 We’ll see you on Wednesday!
Shop at a participating local business this Saturday between 12-4pm and your receipt will earn you a FREE small drink from the Nook! The weather looks good, and after a full month of grey, I think we all deserve a little sunshine and retail therapy, no?
And if you pay with credit, we will love you all the same. Every small business you know is like a duck on a pond that looks really calm, but their feet are kicking like crazy underwater. Go support your peeps, not just me, all of ‘em. 🤜🏽🤛🏽
This is a huge step in the right direction! Starbucks plans to minimize waste by 50% by 2030 by allowing customers (even in the drive thru) to use their own mugs. We love to see our customers utilizing reusable cups and from a karma standpoint, you're minimizing your carbon footprint, especially if you're an iced drinker. From a financial standpoint, you receive the same .10 discount every single order- that adds up! Let's help move the needle folks.....
Starbucks Allows Reusable Cups for Every Order This month marked a milestone for Starbucks as they endeavor to reduce waste by 50% by 2030. Customers are now able to use their clean reusable cups at the drive-thru and online app.
Stop in for a latte or a gift card before we close next week! We’re here all weekend to fuel your last minute shopping trips 🎁
Heads up that we’re closing from 12/25 - 12/29 to have some new floors put in. We’ll be back in action on Saturday 12/30 with a fresh look and a rested staff.

The photo above is a flashback to 8 years ago around this time when I was working to open the shop. It was taken at night and I was probably so excited to see it coming together. I left my job on December 5th and opened my doors on January 13th. In the six weeks between, I worked the hardest I had ever worked, sanding and poly, sanding and poly. Scouring the state to find pallets to make this wood wall that seemed so much easier in my head. I made so much noise late at night that I bought my upstairs neighbor a gift card and left it in his mailbox to thank him for being so understanding. Despite contractors and customers asking if ‘My dad helped me out with the business’ or if ‘I owned it with my husband’, I was as single as the day was long. But I didn’t open it by myself; I had little Nook angels that showed up to saw wood, paint walls, build shelves, stamp cups, and taste my first several awful lattes. (Cc: .for.president and plenty more)

All this to say, a lotta hands and a lotta love built this place and I’m grateful to still be here. Onward and upward. I hope you can all get some rest around the holidays as well. 🤍 Shannon

We made the Boston Globe! So incredibly proud to have my team recognized. You’ll need a subscription to read the article but here’s our snippet:
“The best coffee house in Rhode Island is The Nook Coffee House in East Greenwich. The staff are always friendly and willing to go above and beyond the norm to make sure you enjoy your visit. The atmosphere is best described as cozy and is a continued extension of the people; it feels like home. However, what sets The Nook apart from other coffee shops is their willingness to experiment and think outside the box with their seasonal drinks like Purple Rain Latte which uses dried lavender leaves or Persephone Latte that utilizes pomegranate molasses... Pure joy in a cup. Don’t overlook the delicious and generous food offerings, like Italian Summer with ricotta, honey, olive oil, salt, pepper, pistachios on hi-fiber bread.” — Brendan Coen
Where to get the best coffee in Rhode Island? Here’s what readers had to say. - The Boston Globe We asked readers of Globe Rhode Island’s weekly Food & Dining newsletter where their favorite cafés were across the state, and received a ton of responses.
If you’re from East Greenwich, chances are good that you know my friend Meg. She’s been an OG Nook customer from Day one and has fostered countless relationships in the community. Now it’s our turn to show up for her. Meg and her partner Jack along with their 4 yr old daughter Edie lost their house in a fire yesterday. We’re grateful that everyone is okay but they lost everything. Please donate whatever you’re able to- the link is in bio. (For those of you asking- I’ll be getting a list of most needed items ASAP and will keep you posted)
Thank you so much Nook fam❤️❤️
