It’s one of our favorite days of the week! Happy 🩵 Meet in PC’ 23 from Boston as she shares her experience in finding a true home away from home 🫶🏼💐💕

“Lauren sent me this for a thankful phi Tuesday caption: Being from Boston, when school started, I was worried about making new friends and feeling like I belonged at State. My aunt, who is an MSU and Alpha Phi alum, told me to look into Greek life. That was the best decision freshman year me could’ve made. Going to school out of state means being away from your family, but the girls in my pledge class became mine. I’ve met people who I know will always be in my life, and I’ve never had better friends. My favorite memories definitely include the big events like the Red Dress Gala and Bid Day, but getting ready with my sisters will always be my favorite thing to do. Listening to music, doing hair and makeup while laughing and borrowing each other’s clothes is something I look forward to every week. I recently had some friends from Phi come to my lake house, and getting to reconnect has been my favorite part of the summer. Forever grateful for Alpha Phi bringing me to my girls ❤️.” —Lauren

Starting the week off with our next duo is and from PC’22 as they share how their friendship has flourished since joining Alpha Phi.🩵⛵️🌎🌟

“Joining alpha phi and meeting each other has been one of the best experiences we could have asked for. Living in the alpha phi house we were roommates and quickly became inseparable. Our weekends consisted of trips to Olive Garden and getting each other ready for nights out. From watching movies together on the informal couch, to traveling across the world together, we have made some of the best memories together. Like in Italy when we spent hours making homemade pasta and sauce just to eat it in seconds after we were done. We will never forget how much fun we had and how hard we laughed when we spent our Friday night alone together at Pinball Pete’s. We can’t thank alpha phi enough for bringing us together.”

Happy ! Meet from PC’ 22 as she shares what Alpha Phi means to her💛👒💫🌊

“Going into your first year of college is filled with a whirlwind of emotions, deciding to go through the recruitment process and joining Alpha Phi just two very short years ago has truly made my college experience unforgettable. From bid days to camp phi, living in room 23, red dress galas, being housing director and to now living with 10 of my best friends come the fall. I couldn’t imagine my time here at Michigan State without Alpha Phi and all the amazing friendships, sisters, and future bridesmaids it has brought me. Happy Friday! We’re excited to start the weekend with our first for the Class of 2025. Meet from PC’21 as she shares her college journey as a member of Alpha Phi. 🩷

“It’s crazy to think that almost 4 years ago I was just a girl from a small hometown in all of your guys shoes. I remember moving into Yakeley and shortly after meeting some girls in my hall deciding to sign up for recruitment. I love meeting new people and forming new connections and deciding to go Alpha Phi was the perfect opportunity to meet over 200+ girls. Throughout my time at MSU I’ve cheered the football team on during game days, I’ve had 4 leadership positions in Phi with one of them being a position on E-board, I got the opportunity to have the forever little sister I never had , and I’ve shed tears every year during the preference ceremony thinking about this being “the year of lasts” for the seniors. It’s bittersweet to think that that will be PC’21 starting this fall. This group of women has inspired me experience a tremendous amount of self growth. So here’s my final takeaway for all of you that are about to embark on an incredible journey: enjoy every second of it. It’s the little things that make ever lasting memories like sleeping in a yurt at Camp Alpha Phi with your best friends, it’s sharing deep talks late at night with your neighbors in 616, it’s everyone singing along on the bus ride to formal, it’s going with to unapologetically to get a slurpee at 9 am, and last but not least it’s laughing until your stomach hurts reading our PC’s groupchat after a night out. I would decide to go through formal recruitment in everytime. I can’t believe I didn’t decide to sign up sooner. Here’s to Alpha Phi and my future bridesmaids that held me together these past four years🥂”

We love you Alex and all of our lovely incoming seniors! 🥝🌺🌴🌈🏄‍♀️🥥🩵

“We really have 616 and alpha phi to thank for making us not only sister but best friends. Sophmore year living in we were neighbors in the Alpha Phi house and have been inseparable ever since! From getting ready together in the makeup room to traveling we are always together and don’t know what we would do without each other! We are each others true definition of ‘if you do it, I’ll do it’”

Happy ! This week, we’re excited to present PC’22’s very own .howlett who is excited to share her personal experiences and what being part of Phi truly means to her 🐚🌊💫🫐

“This past year at college has been an absolute blast, thanks to the group of girl friends I lucked into—truly the sisterhood of the traveling snacks, clothes, and all-night study sessions. I’m extra thankful for their extraordinary ability to turn every coffee run into a comedy show and every breakdown into a breakthrough. They are full of love and support with enough to go around for a lifetime. Some of my favorite memories of living in are the memories that follow “Okay, meet up in Emelia’s room in 10”, so here’s to more laughter, shared secrets, and the kind of friendship that makes every moment spent at MSU absolutely worth it!” We love you Liv!🩵🩵

Home is where the heart is! meet PC’ 23 .k as she shares why she’s thankful to have lived in Alpha Phi this past year 🪞🫧🪩✨

“As someone from out of state, I was super excited about living in because I knew it would help me get closer to all the amazing girls in Phi. And honestly, it has been even better than I imagined. I can’t even begin to explain how much living in has changed my life. I’ve been so lucky to meet some of my closest friends here, and we’ve shared endless laughs and made memories that will last a lifetime. This experience has truly been a blessing, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

My favorite memory living in the sorority house would have to be living down the hall from all my best friends. Our nightly routine would consist of hanging out in each others rooms and switching up who’s room we would hangout in. I was always surrounded by the best girls and knowing that I won’t be able to just walk down the hall to some of my friends rooms next year since they’re living in different houses is heart wrenching. I’ll always appreciate this past year living in phi!” 🏡💌

Meet Carla, a member of PC ‘23, as she talks about how joining a Greek organization has helped her find her community, made a large school feel more intimate, and introduced her to her second family. 🌅💙

“I always knew I wanted to be part of something bigger at MSU but i didn’t know what. I looked into many different clubs and organizations the school has to offer and when i came across greek life I knew I was meant to rush. During the rush experience it can seem nerve-racking but I stayed true to myself the whole way through. Joining Alpha Phi has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. People often say that they make life long friendships through recruitment and I can agree that I have met so many amazing girls and have gotten so close with them and have been able to be my true authentic self. Whether it’s going out together or simply just needing someone to talk to for advice my sisters are there for me and I can thank Alpha Phi for that. I recommend rushing to everyone even if you are on the fence about it because I am so glad I did it and my life would be so different without my sisters. This is just the start and I am so excited to to live in the house with my sisters having movie nights, getting ready together, doing our hair and makeup together or even simply just doing a target run or getting a coffee. I am so happy I went through with the recruitment process and found my people because I dont know where I would be without my sorority at such a big school like MSU.”

We love you Carla and are so happy you decided to join a sisterhood that spans across 14 different Panhellenic chapters! Our chapter wouldn’t be the same without you🤞🏼✨✨

Todays is with PC’ 23 very own 💛🌼💫

Going through recruitment and ultimately joining Alpha Phi has been the most exciting and fulfilling decision I’ve ever made. From the moment I stepped into the Alpha Phi house, I felt an instant connection with the values, sisterhood, and sense of community that Alpha Phi represents. Through Alpha Phi, I’ve developed new friendships, endless support, and countless opportunities for personal growth. Whether it’s participating in philanthropic events, bonding during sisterhood activities, or sharing laughter and memories, being a part of Alpha Phi changed my college experience in ways I never imagined possible. It’s a decision I’ll always cherish and one that continues to shape me into the best version of myself every day. I’m so beyond excited to continue my journey as an Alpha Phi!💕”

Before our seniors graduate we wanted to kick off the day with one last with 🩷☺️🪽

“These past 4 years at MSU have been the best yet and the biggest reason for that is because of Alpha Phi. This chapter is filled with the funniest and kindest girls, from camp phi, to recruitment, to living in, I am so lucky to walk away with endless memories. There is never a dull moment when we are all together, and I’m so happy to be apart of this chapter. This chapter is filled with so much love and laughter and as graduation gets closer and closer, I’m reminded of how lucky I am to have something that is so hard to say goodbye to.”

We love you callie! You’ve been such a great role model to our girls and will never forget the impact you’ve made on our chapter🫶🏼

Introducing our first duo, PC ‘21 and share their story on being by each other’s side all throughout college🍒🪽

“Becoming leaders together on Executive Board has been our dream since freshman year when we first met each other. From going back and forth to each other’s dorms everyday, to weekend trips, to living together in room 21 at the Alpha Phi house, sitting in our bed laughing at the littlest things, to now living in our college house together, we’ve truly done it all next to each other’s sides. Becoming Chapter President and Vice President of Membership Recruitment was something we’ve dreamed of since we became bestfriends. This shared experience has been the most cherished and rewarding endeavor of our journey together, and we can’t wait to share this love with all of you during fall recruitment!” — Sosi and Avery 💌

History of the Beta Beta Chapter

Written in 1922, upon installation: The Michigan Agricultural College, now known as Michigan State University, was founded in 1857 as the first agriculture college in America and from the first it admitted women students. Course in home economics, engineering, veterinary medicine, agriculture, and applied science were offered. The average enrollment was fifteen to seventeen hundred students.

The Feronian Literacy Society, now the Beta Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi, was founded in March 1891. It was the first woman’s society to be established at the Michigan Agriculture College. Dr. Howard Edwards, a member of the college faculty, suggested the name Feronian in honor of the goddess Feronia. From the beginning the women took an active interested in the scholastic movements of the campus, often taking honors and intersociety and state debates. Literary programs were built around civic improvements for Lansing, new courses for the women of the college and work that would make the society members better Feronians. When the Women’s Building was erected in 1900, the college gave the two oldest societies- the Feronian and the Thermian- rooms in the basement of the building, which were attractively furnished by the girls.

The principal work of the group was the build up a strong membership. The idea of allegiance was the cornerstone in the foundation of the society life of the Feronian member. Other building stones were typified by campus activities, scholarship, class organizations, and growth in comparison with that of other women’s societies. From the first, the Feronian members have held first place in campus activities and have always followed up any project they have started. The college year book, the “Wolverine,” gives the lists of activities of every college woman. Feronian ranks first from that record.

The Beta Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi was installed on February 17, 1922, by the Theta Chapter (University of Michigan), its big sister, and representatives of the National Board. It was an impressive and inspiring occasion, never to be forgotten by those present.
