MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities
Supporting MSU’s academic and research mission.
Michigan State University’s Infrastructure Planning and Facilities (IPF) plans, builds, maintains and beautifies the physical environment in support of Michigan State University’s education, research and outreach missions, and directs the university’s long-term infrastructure planning goals. The unit’s experienced team of 1,000 professionals keep MSU running by supporting the infrastructure needs of the university and providing expert analysis for university objectives.
IPF is hiring students across departments 🍀🍀
It’s fall which means that student hiring is well underway! Positions are available for students in multiple IPF departments including Custodial, PDC, Project Services, Landscape Services, SSRC, Hidden Lake Gardens, Transportation, and more.
See the positions on:

What’s that noise? 🗣️🍀 The MSU power plant is bringing one of its boilers back from overhaul and doing normal startup operations. If you’re hearing some noise, it’s likely steam venting on the roof as they test and operate pressure relief and steam safety valves—this should be done later today. They’re also running more equipment than usual to keep up with campus power demand!
From the lifelong learners at MSU to the supportive grandparents of our students, we honor the incredible seniors who enrich our Spartan community. For more resources, visit https://reg.msu.edu/ROInfo/EnrReg/LifelongEducation.aspx!

“What Are You Doing?” Series: Regional Chiller Plant Crane
Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes to keep our campus cool? 🏢❄️
Facilities team set the rebuilt cooling tower motors on their mounts at the Regional Chiller Plant. These motors are vital for keeping our cooling towers in top shape as we approach the warmer months. This work was requested by Ryan Kraft from the Chilled Water team.
The team and contractors will make sure everything is perfectly aligned before testing the motors. Fun fact: It’s not just cooling towers; we handle every motor connected to HVAC units, pumps, exhaust fans, and more to keep the campus comfortable year-round!

It's a busy summer on campus! Epoxy rebar is being installed on the new Farm Lane Bridge, a light pole is being settled into the ground, the Greenhouse renovations have begun, water mains are being replaced, and Spartan Stadium's resident falcons have a few new chicks to raise! And, of course, there's the beautiful green spaces to enjoy.
