PUBLIC ACCESS AND PARKING ADVISORY FOR FIREWORKS

The East Longmeadow Police Department and the East Longmeadow Rotary Club are issuing a joint statement to address parking and vehicular access restrictions being implemented at the Fireworks celebration at the East Longmeadow High School tonight, July 3, 2024. These measures are being put in place to best ensure the safety of all attendees at and around the high school. We want to reassure you that these restrictions are in place to protect you and to respect the ongoing site work and heavy equipment that’s while also respecting the ongoing site work and heavy equipment on the grounds for the construction of the new high school.

No vehicles will be allowed to enter or park in the “horseshoe” main entrance area of the high school. Construction activities have already reduced the available space in that area, and it is imperative that it remain available for emergency vehicle access only.

No vehicles will be allowed to park at the eastern end of Norden Street, and there will be a gate blocking vehicle access to the school grounds at that point. The area in front of this gate must remain clear at all times for fire department and emergency vehicle access only.

The gravel construction roads in the fields around the high school will be open for pedestrian activity, but must remain accessible for emergency vehicles. Please do not set up any chairs, blankets, or any other objects on these roads that would impede access. Construction activities have taken away access to some portions of the field, so please be patient as the spot where you usually watch the fireworks you usually watch the fireworks from may no longer be available.

The main parking lot of the high school will be open until it is filled. Please be kind and patient with the officers directing traffic in the area. It may take an hour or more to get out of the parking lot after the fireworks end. Any vehicles left in the high school parking lot overnight may be towed at the owner's expense as the lot needs to be cleared for the Fourth of July parade staging the following morning.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding, and we’re looking forward to a wonderful community event and celebration tonight.

07/03/2024

The Fireworks tonight will go off at 9:30. Please note that vehicle access to the rear of the High School (Norden Street) will be prohibited except for emergency vehicles.
