INSTRUCTORS WHO PUT RELATIONSHIPS FIRST DON’T JUST HAVE STUDENTS SHORT TERM; THEY HAVE STUDENTS WHO VIEW THEM AS ‘THEIR’ INSTRUCTOR FOR LIFE.

Every instructor/school has their own signature patch. It’s like a lineage patch that an instructor passes on to their students. Some instructors give it to every student in their school…but for me, it’s a little more than that. I personally designed my patch and give it to certain students only. One, they have to be a personal student of mine non stop for a period of 1 year. Second, they have to show certain qualities in as well as outside the school. Any patch can be bought, but this is the only patch that you cannot buy. The only way to get it is to personally be handed one by me only. When you wear the patch, you represent not only our school.. but you represent yourself as a personal student of mine and officially are part of the “Gomez” martial arts family lineage. Today, I had the honor of giving one to another deserving student.

If our students can see themselves through my eyes, they would know how INCREDIBLE they truly are!

Stick day for level 3 students today too. It’s fun!

Yesterday was stick day for the level 1 & 2 kids. It’s always nice to hear a cheerful gasp with a “yayyy” when I said, let’s do some stick stuff today. Gotta keep the kids well rounded.

Strong women aren’t simply born. They are forged through the challenges of life. With each challenge they grow mentally and emotionally. They move forward with their head held high and a strength that cannot be denied. A woman who’s been through the storm and survived. Women are warriors!

If you break down the term martial arts, you’ll see that the noun, the core of the phrase, is actually art. It’s not about learning to fight, it’s about learning to be better through the
expression of action.

We have struck the lottery! We will be having Grandmaster Jeff Speakman’s highest ranking blackbelt, 8th Degree Blackbelt, Mr. Anto Parseghian come here to our school to teach seminars for our fundraising sensei swap event.

Mr. Parseghian is one of my Kenpo 5.0 Instructors and seniors and we are absolutely blessed to be able to have him be our special guest. It’s truly going to be a great day.

Investment for the seminars will only be $25. All proceeds we raise will help to raise funds to help send our students to the Kenpo 5.0 Las Vegas Championships.

Definitely an event not to miss. Signup sheets will be at the studio.

Happy to buy this book again. Highly recommend! I had this book before and had a bunch of notes and bookmarks.. but I lost it at some point… anyway, can’t wait to read through this again.. and introduce the concepts in my self defense classes again.

That dream you have? Keep it, treasure it, for it’s what makes you who you are. Go out there and put up a fight for it. Stop at nothing to achieve it.

No matter how big or however way our school fluctuates… it all comes down to remembering those that were there in the beginning and made it all happen. This was the core founding members. Others moved on.. but 5 of the originals are still here with us today. Good times everyone… miss this group as a whole. They were def an elite group

You see these two young men? One day when they get older, I’m highly confident that I’ll have the privilege of watching them go pro and win a professional world title of some sort one day. To work with these two is a huge honor!

It takes a lot of different qualities to be a good martial arts instructor… all of it can be learned over time. However, there’s one thing that’s really not a big secret to being a good instructor, just care about your students….all of them.

Invited a few level 1 & 2 students to our level 3 class to give some of the level 3 students a chance to teach another student material that they have already learned. It takes a learned skillset to look at a technique from another point of view. It’s a great learning experience for sure. One of the greatest gifts my teachers of the past ever blessed me with was giving me the opportunities to teach.

Sensei Maurice always holding a special place in his heart for these two, Isaac and Giana. One of the two students that are part of our VIP founders club members and are some of the select few who helped us create our school and being one of the leaders of our school setting a great example for everyone.

Last week we had amazing tests…. I couldn’t have been any prouder than ever. Everyone truly stepped up and really shined bright! Congrats to all the testers who passed their belt exams!

I don’t know about you, but I sure do love tacos! You need to try these tacos! SOOOOOO AMAZING! Seriously! Many who ordered last year wished that they ordered more. We caused such a high demand, they actually ran out and had to make a run to get a new batch from their restaurant. They are seriously that good.

Belt testing coming up! For the green belts, I remember setting aside their yellow belt for their first testing almost 3 years ago. Our school has been staying alive and will officially have level 4 students in black uniforms pretty soon!

A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there. Sometimes you just have to accept the fact that you might get taken down to the ground… then what are you going to do?

When your mind and body tells you to quit, your heart will tell you to keep fighting!
