We've had clients come to us, uncertain why rooms they recreated from photos found on Instagram and Pinterest don't have a designed look and feel.

Recreating a design as a DIYer is much different than how a professional designer approaches a design. A trained designer is taking into consideration many principles, elements and techniques. Consider this inspired room from , it may seem fairly straightforward to recreate, however it is anything but simple.

A trained designer is going to think about the scale of lighting to the room, lighting to the table, table to the chairs, chairs to the room, fabric to the chairs, lamp to the credenza, credenza to the wall, credenza to the table, credenza to the room, lamp to the artwork, vase of flowers to the art to the lamp... and that is JUST scale. Now consider color, proportion, volume, repetition, focal points, visual value and so.much.more.

In the end, to get a professionally designed look, hire a properly skilled designer.

On the edge of something kind of wonderful!

Scottsdale is all a buzz with the collector car auction this weekend. We couldn't let a year pass without our annual post of this one-of-a-kind design project featuring multiple cars purchased during the auction over the years.

The project includes a casita that opens into a showroom style garage featuring a showcase of collectible cars. While we have so many favorites within this project, at the top of the list is the custom sofa upholstered in pearlized metallic leather inspired by the iconic Shelby Cobra blue.

We do love to play with all of the crayons in the crayon box!

As a color, purple is a perfect neutral. It can bring stability to a space, is a balance of masculine + feminine and the color of royalty. When using it in varying hues, muted as a purple-gray, brightened to fuschia-plum and softened to a pastel lilac, it creates a room filled with an energetic calm like this one from and swipe for more from us!
