I love dancing because I see my friends and I love wearing my mint leotard!

🌟Teacher spotlight Miss 🌟

💜 Mia Burrell is a native of San Jose, CA. She has over 25 years of folklorico dance experience. She has been able to travel to Mexico to learn foklorico from master teachers and has been teaching in the Bay Area for the past 8 years. She is currently the co-artistic director of Ensamble Folclorico Colibri and is also active in Aztec dance circles.

🤩 Our students have LOVED working with Miss Mia this summer and we are excited for her to be an integral part of our staff this summer. Please look for her classes in folklorico for all levels on the fall schedule!

Teacher Spotlight: Miss Greyson! 🌟🤩

Greyson Gerdts is a performer, choreographer, and teacher. After spending summer 2023 in the Bay Area she decided to move here full time! We are excited to say she will be teaching all levels including the After-school Program this fall on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays!

Greyson’s teaching career began in 2017 when she choreographed the Old Library Theatre’s production of Children of Eden.

Her choreography earned her a nomination for Best Choreography at the end-of-season Gala. Greyson graduated from Muhlenberg College in 2021 with a BA in Dance with concentrations in performance, choreography, and education as well as an Italian Studies minor. In early 2022, Greyson was invited to return to her alma mater, James Caldwell High School, to choreograph her high school’s spring production of Matilda, and then Grease in 2023.

How old were you when you started ballet?
I started dancing last spring when I was ten years old

What is your favorite dance position or step?
My favorite dance step is rolling through my middle split

What is your favorite song or piece of music to dance to?
My favorite song for contemporary dance is Cheap Thrills by Sia

What do you love most about dancing?
I love dance because it is calming and peaceful. It helps me block out all the noise around me.

Giselle has been showing amazing dedication and improvement in her techniques. We're so proud of her hard work and passion for dance.

🌟Teacher Spotlight: Mizuho🌟

Mizuho Sato was born in Iwate, Japan and started classical ballet at the age of three. As she performed on stage and attained years of experience winning balletic competitions, she pursued her career as a dancer and took summer school in the Royal Ballet Academy of England. Entering Sophia (Jochi) University in Tokyo brought her a strong encounter with flamenco, and she decided to shift her career. She relocated her base to the Bay area in 2018 and teaches and performs at local venues.

She debuted her own company Mizuho Sato Flamenco Company in San Francisco with a show called ¡FLAMENKING! to spread the power of healing “flamencura” to embrace the multicultural Bay Area flamenco scene, simultaneously showcasing her other talent as a painter and as a result, it was a sold-out show!

How old were you when you started ballet?
I started ballet when I was around four years old, in the Purple Class.

What is your favorite dance position or step?
My favorite step is the tour jeté!

What is your favorite song or piece of music to dance to?
My favorite song to dance to is Unaccompanied Cello by Johann Sebastian Bach. We are dancing to this music for our contemporary piece in Hansel & Gretel.

What do you love most about dancing?
I love how ballerinas dance & move

Nairobi has been highlighted For her hard work, attention to detail, and positive attitude!
