The Making of Roy Lichtenstein's "Modern Head" (teaser) A new public sculpture by world-renowned artist Roy Lichtenstein was installed on the campus of Ohio State University in Summer 2019 (between Smith and McPhe...
Many months in the works , but ready now to return to the client.
I had the good fortune to be invited to celebrate what would have been Roy Lichtenstein's 100th birthday last month..... The drum line was inventive! Lots of fun reconnecting with people that I had not seen in years! There may be some other artists lurking in the video.
I guess 'polyurethane enamel' is just easier than 'linear aliphatic polyester urethane'! Worlds apart for durability though.

#1986
This from a very happy customer:
"The restoration process is being carried out with exceptional expertise, surpassing the original craftsmanship. Your company, with its profound knowledge and experience, ensures that the restoration achieves remarkable results. In contrast, M # # lacks the capability to attain the same level of excellence that your restoration will bring to the sculpture!"

13 years ago I informed Julie Wolfe - Assistant Conservator of the J Paul Getty Conservation Trust, that I believed I had solved the circular logic riddle explaining the poor condition of many aluminum sculptures built in the USA. From premature paint failure, structural cracking of welds, and extensive corrosion, simple solutions could be culled from the marine fabrication world which I had been part of for over a decade. The discussion triggered years of research, and plays a big role in the existence of this book. To quote James DePasquali, Artistic Director of the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation: "Amaral's (fabrications) came out perfectly - he raised the bar"
The book is available from the J Paul Getty bookstore found online. I think every sculpture conservator should check it out.
And yes, that's our work on the cover!
