🚨 🚨 Significant impact on daily commutes!!
Emergency Announcement:
Due to the finding of a critical failure of some original 1960's bridge components, we will close the westbound side of the Washington Bridge.
Initially, all westbound lanes will be closed and traffic diverted to alternate routes. In the next two to three weeks, we’ll move traffic to two lanes on the eastbound side at which time permanent repairs will begin on the westbound side. This will require a closure of two lanes on I-195 East in the area of Exit 1A (India Street) starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, December 12.
Depending on the severity of what is found from the initial work, the repair could take three months or more.
Beginning immediately and during the time that it takes to make the repairs and reopen the westbound side, travelers are asked to take the marked detour routes.

Please see the attached press release from the Coventry Police Department, RI regarding the ongoing investigation of Joshua Pavao. This continues to be a very active investigation.
We will continue to keep our city and our community safe, no matter the challenges.
Community Alert: the individual arrested last Friday, who in my opinion poses an extreme threat to society has had his bail bond lowered and will most likely be on the street later today.
The original bond set by the bail commissioner on 12/02/2023
Bond Setting
Surety $250,000.00 (@10% $25,000.00)
The revised bond set by the district court judge on 12/04/2023
Bond Setting
Surety $100,000.00 (@10% $10,000.00)
Conditions:
- Non-Domestic No Contact Order
- Pretrial Services to Monitor
- No Trespassing
- Surrender of Passport
- Surrender of Firearm(s)
The defendant will need to come up with 10K and he is on the streets again. I doubt any mental health assessment has been done, nor a fitness to be out in public.
Update: I learned that the defendant did speak with a mental health expert at the court before bail being set. I also learned that the judge may have been following bail guidelines set by RI General Law.
I believe the defendant in this case deserved a comprehensive mental health evaluation to determine if he poses a continued threat to our community. It is my opinion based on the facts that I know that this person needs intervention and that the community is at risk with him free. If RI law does not allow for a detention to determine a person’s danger to the community in these type of cases, the law needs to be changed.

IPHONE IOS 17 SECURITY CONCERN-
If you have an iPhone and have done the recent iOS 17 update, they have set a new feature called NameDrop defaulted to ON. This feature allows the sharing of your contact info by bringing iphones close together. The process indicates it requires approval from both parties to share and or receive the contact information chosen. We are sharing this information so everyone is aware of this NEW feature and that it is defaulted to ON.
If you choose to shut off this feature go to Settings, General, AirDrop, Bringing Devices Together. Change to OFF.
PARENTS: Don't forget to change these settings after the update on your children's phones, iPads, or other Apple devices.

Please review!! Do what you can to protect yourselves and your elderly loved ones!
**ALERT**
There has been a significant increase over the last few weeks of elderly person(s) being scammed using the tactics such as "your relative is in jail, or in the hospital". The individuals are sending UBER or LYFT drivers to the residence to pick up the cash so that they are not the ones going to the house to pick it up themselves. Below are some tips on how to avoid being a victim of a scam.
We have been made aware of a potential scam in our area. Individuals are posing as members of a utility company and knocking on doors, attempting to gain access to residences. Please be cautious and report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood.
Unfortunately the weather this weekend is causing us to again postpone our car show to benefit The Tomorrow Fund. It will be held 9/30/23. Same time and same location.
This Saturday! See you there!

The men and women of the IBPO Local 569 extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers of the Seekonk Police Department after the sudden passing of Patrolwoman Kourtny DeForitis.
Please keep those affected by this awful tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.
🖤💙🖤
It is with the deepest and most profound sadness that Chief David Enos announces the untimely passing of Patrolwoman Kourtny DeForitis. During the early morning hours of September 9, 2023, Ptlw. DeForitis was involved in an off-duty fatal motor vehicle crash, as a passenger on a motorcycle in Somerset, MA. Ptlw. DeForitis served with the Seekonk Police Department for just under 3 years, having attended the Cape Cod Municipal Police Academy in 2021. Since that time, she has been assigned to the Patrol Division and was outstanding in her various roles as a community outreach officer. Kourtny had a particular fondness for the youth of Seekonk and could be found playfully interacting with them in the schools and at community events, usually with a bright smile on her face and a contagious laugh. The men and women of the Seekonk Police Department offer their sincere condolences to Ptlw. DeForitis’ family and friends, as we also mourn the loss of one of our own. Rest in peace badge 3334, we’ll take the watch from here.
Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Officer Bobby Garten and the Hartford Police CT.
We are praying for a speedy recovery for Officer Brian Kearney.
