We spent the last two weeks talking about our camping adventures! The kids made log cabins, lots of pretend fires, went fishing, ate s'mores and even did a little painting outside before the day got to hot! Sure hope it cools down soon.

There is a lot of discussion about what is developmentally appropriate for young children and what is not. I understand this concept, but I also believe that exposing children to different activities and tools with no pressure can help with growth and development. Kids are curious and love exploring new things, so I try introducing them to markers, crayons, glue sticks, and even scissors when I can, with no pressure. By doing this it gives them an opportunity to learn and grow at their own pace.
Beautiful day for a picnic lunch outside. The kids enjoyed it! They also found a Roly Poly. Now they need to decide if it is an insect?
All about butterflies!! We studied Butterflies and their life cycle. To help the kids understand the different stages we did a project for each one. First-Egg: They glued a bean on a leaf.
Second-Caterpillar: They created a "name" caterpillar and a caterpillar on a clothespin.
Third- Chrysalis: They wrapped thier caterpillars in streamer to represent the chrysalis.
Last-Butterfly: They created several beautiful butterflies.
We did a Bug Study today!! The kids had to pick a bug and figure out if it was an insect or not. They looked to see if it had these things; antennas, 6 legs, 3 body parts, spots, stripes or wings. Then they drew a picture. They did amazing and some even did it twice.
Happy Mother's Day! The kids painted flowers with watercolors and made beautiful bouquets for their moms. We want to say thank you to all the moms for sharing your babies with us.
Painting Suncatchers!!
All About Insects!! Beetles,Bees and Butterflies!! We studied, created, painted and dressed like bugs!
Finishing off our Plant Unit and jumping into Insect!
Fun Friday this week was crazy! The kids built the tallest flower we had ever seen! They explored the world on a super bouncy bus! They all played together today amazingly.
We filled the flower pots with soil and enthusiasm! The kids had a blast being able to 'do it by themselves', pointing out the different parts of the plant like the flower, stem, leaves, and roots. They even got to experience the importance of soil, water, air, and sun for a plant to grow and stand tall. Each group has 2 people and one large pot to fill. It was great to listen to them talk to each other about everything they were seeing.
We began our Spring and Plants unit, exploring the various parts of plants and their growth requirements. The kids have also been creating colorful art and craft projects with tulips and their names. Next, we'll be planting flowers and investigating everything we see. Stay tuned!
Spring Break was great but we were glad to be back! We finished off our farm unit studying horses, cows and pigs. Up next is discoving plants and checking out creepy crawlers! Lets get ready to bring on Spring Time!!
Happy Easter from our family to yours!
The past two weeks we have been learning about farms. We did some fun units including what a farmer does, things that can grow on farms, and the animals that live there. We also have Easter this week which worked out great because we learned about chickens and rabbits.
Did you wear green for St.Patrick's Day? WE DID!! We had a great time getting ready for it and celebrated it a little early. The kids made cool decorations and card invites that we sent to the Leprechaun. Little did he know they made magical traps to catch him! Unfortunately no Leprechaun were caught but he did leave some yummy treats.
