We’ve had many conversations about material handling, but let’s be honest—no one handles it quite like Sheldon Cooper. Precision, efficiency, and a little bit of quirkiness—just the way we like it.

Band Mill wheel bearing grease schedule One of the most common issues we see arise is that of improper Wheel Bearing greasing. Find out when you should grease your equipment.
We're not sure if anyone else caught it, but McDonough made it to the Olympics! Yep, our band mill wheels were right up there on the Eiffel Tower. We're wheel-y famous.
Bob Bell, our sales representative and slalom ski enthusiast, has called Tuscarora Lake in Erieville, NY home since 2018. He and his wife Chelsea, being the DIY pros they are, took on some major renovations, including refinishing their beautiful red oak floors.
During the process, Bob discovered a unique stamp on the wood from Cotton-Hanlen, a mill that once operated in Cayuta, NY and is now owned by the Baillie Group. Fast forward to 2024, and we stumbled upon a vintage McDonough catalog from 1950. Guess what? Cotton-Hanlen was a McDonough customer back then!
It’s likely that the very floors in Bob’s home were crafted on a McDonough band mill. Talk about a piece of history right underfoot!
Our dedicated team takes great pride while inspecting and refurbishing our re-built machines to ensure they perform like new! We stand by our certified rebuild work and offer the same factory warranty as a brand new McDonough.

Some things really do stand the test of time.
We're teaming up with the folks at Koval to bring you an instructional animation video that will guide sawmills on the key aspects to consider when purchasing an edger.

Frank McDonough started the McDonough Manufacturing Co. in 1888 along the north bank of the Eau Claire River east of the Mississippi River Logging Company. The company sold sawmill equipment all over the United States. An innovative company, it adapted to changes in the lumber industry after the white pines of the Midwest were extracted. The company is still manufacturing industrial sawmill equipment and still operating in Eau Claire, making it one of the oldest businesses in the community. You can see McDonough Manufacturing machinery on display in the Gordy Wall Memorial Hall at the Wisconsin Logging Museum.

A quick look at our OptiFit Edger infeed, showing how the board is scanned on a belt after it is placed and moving towards the saw. This process, combined with elements of our belt design that ensure reliable belt tracking, eliminate errors introduced during placement, acceleration or travel on a rollcase infeed.
