Each musician gets two songs

Each performer doing a spoken piece (visual arts, magic, poetry, etc.) gets five minutes.

PLEASE NOTE: The Lakely reserves the right to stop someone’s performance if they make racist, sexist, transphobic, or homophobic comments. Profanity is not welcome. The Lakely is a venue based on inclusivity for all, and we expect all performers to respect that.

“Since I started in 2016, my various roles at The Oxbow have offered me a rare glimpse into a community of artists and music I would have otherwise never known – from weekly live music performances, to the curated albums in the Vinyl Library, the entire vibe here is something deeply special, and I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share a musical experience with this community.

It’s a real challenge to put into words what Prince means to me. Music has always been a key component of my life – a gift I credit to my dad, as it was his taste in music, and his VHS recordings of Friday Night Videos from the 80s and 90s that first introduced me to Prince. Back then, I didn’t understand much about what Prince was singing, but I fell in love with his music and his enigmatic energy all the same, and that love has proven to last a lifetime.

My vinyl pick is an album I genuinely enjoy in its entirety: Parade, released by Prince and The Revolution in 1986. This album is an easy-going melodic escape, encouraging you to both lean in and listen, and get up and groove. For me, the Parade album seems to imbue its listener with a sense of urgency to live in the moment, or to risk the haunting sense of loss that comes with missed experiences.”
