Especially for Children Child Care
Especially for Children is a privately owned organization established in 1976 for the purpose of providing quality care for young children.
Especially for Children provides care and education for young children which enhances their emotional security and self-esteem, while stimulating their intellectual growth. At our eight Twin Cities locations, nurturing staff and carefully designed settings combine to enhance children's development. At EFC, children are encouraged to explore and discover with their peers and supportive adults. We a

Big Congrats to the EFC Eagan and Eden Prairie teams on their NAEYC re-accreditations!!
A newsworthy week! We are excited to share that EFC Circle Pines achieved its NAEYC re-accreditation this week.
And we were also honored to be featured in Edina Magazine's June issue:
Especially for Children Celebrates the Importance of Play - Edina Magazine Edina preschool Especially for Children focuses on play-based, hands-on learning. When David and Lindsay Koerner moved back to Minnesota from
A big congrats to the teams at EFC Edinborough and EFC Inver Grove Heights for achieving NAEYC re-accreditation! We appreciate their dedication to high quality early childhood standards...way to go!
We wish you a Happy Earth Day tomorrow! What a great day to make a pledge to consume a bit less, walk and bike a bit more, plant a pollinator, create a compost pile (or sign up with your city if they offer it!), or take your child out into the amazing outdoors so that they are inspired to care for the earth as they grow.
Lots of excitement at our new SW Minneapolis location today as all of our furniture arrives!
Happy Earth Month! Tip of the week: help to ensure your recycling is successful by understanding what can be recycled in your county.
For instance: do not place recycling in a plastic bag, and check to see if your county accepts black plastic containers (many do not since the machines can't read the number). It can be helpful to post your county's guidelines in your household to double check accepted items!
Happy Week of the Young Child! We celebrate all children, families, and teachers in our early childhood learning environments!
Week of the Young Child Early childhood education is an investment in your child’s future that goes a long way.
Toys are great--they help children learn in so many ways! Unfortunately, they can also have a negative impact on our environment as they are difficult to recycle. 80% of toys end up in the trash.
In honor of Earth Month, we invite you to help us extend the life of the toys, books, and games your child no longer plays with. We are hosting a Used Toy Drive now through April 7. The children in our centers would love to play with and extend the life of the toys you are ready to part with. And we have some fun, experiential prizes associated with our Toy Drive. May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! In celebration of this, below is a list of books written or illustrated by Asian Americans or Pacific Islanders: https://www.wildrumpusbooks.com/asianampicture
Children will grow to love and take care of nature when they fully experience it. How can they learn from a fallen tree?
How long did it live?
Why did it fall?
Who lives beneath it?
What grows on it now?
Can I balance on it?
What does rain do to its surface, its color?
We hope everyone can take a moment to do something kind for the earth today.
What a special afternoon hosting Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan and State Senator Melisa Franzen at our Edina W/70th Street center. We are so grateful for our state leaders' support of early childhood education.
Thank you, City of Edina, for recognizing Priscilla’s history, passion, and hard work!
Last night we were honored to be joined by Shelly Boyum-Breen to celebrate Women's History Month. She read to us from her Shelly Bean the Sports Queen series, and we chatted about the importance of female role models, perseverance and representation. Thanks to all the families who joined us, and thank you Shelly for sharing your love of reading and your inspiration!

In case you missed it, in our last newsletter we wrote about supporting self-regulation as a foundational aspect of early learning: https://especiallyforchildren.com/2022/03/11/self-regulation/
Especially for Parents: Supporting Self-Regulation - Especially for Children by Angie Williams One of the main emotional developmental goals we support at Especially for Children is self-regulation, or the ability for children to understand and manage their own behavior and reactions to feelings and experiences taking place around them. We recently shared the article...
