Had failing waterbased coating on railings and floor. Floor was stripped to about 90% bare wood and then coated with 2 coats of Cabbot solid color oil based stain. Railing were good except for the top rail where the coating was almost gone. We coated railings with Behr waterbased 3 coats to get proper coverage. Water based coating will fail on horizontal surfaces in the first year, it will hold up on vertical surfaces but we prefer to not use unless we have to. This deck floor should get about 4/5 years of life before it needs a recoat. The top rail will need touch ups periodical but the railings should get 3/4 years before it needs a recoat.

We had the pleasure of working with a client who wanted to update their garage with a new floor! Our TCR team got to work grinding the existing floor to remove any dirt, debris, and to leave a proper profile for our coating to bond properly. We used a Polyurea Coating because the very high tensile strength of polyurea and its penetrating properties makes it one of the strongest materials on the market for providing concrete floor protection. We used Autumn Wood Flakes and gave this garage a much needed update that will protect the floor from gasoline, oil, salt, and prevent any further deterioration. We helped a wonderful client bring back life to her fence (and table)! With the help of our amazing TCR Crew, we power-washed the fence and re-stained using a semi-transparent oil stain. We use oil-based vs water-based because oil-based is the way to go to keep your fence looking better, longer! Water-based doesn't hold up to Minnesota weather as nicely and will require yearly maintenance before an oil-based fence even needs a second thought!

We have been offering fast & efficient ice dam steaming and roof snow removal services for the past 6 years. We ONLY USE A PROFESSIONAL GRADE ICE DAM STEAMER, not a hot water power washer that can easily damage your shingles and cause water intrusion.

Our services are performed hourly so you can set a budget and prioritize areas that need the most work. Don't hesitate to contact your insurance company to ask if they will cover the expense; some do and some do not, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

If you had ice dams last year and didn't get around to making the changes necessary to avoid them, then you will get ice dams again this year.

Headed out this morning to tackle our first garage floor coating installation of the season!

Your beautiful new garage floor is now complete! To care for your new floor, just wipe up anything that spills and use warm soapy water for cleaning. To request an estimate for your own garage floor coating, be sure to get in touch. We can't wait to hear from you, and we hope you've enjoyed this deep dive into all things garage floor coatings!

Applying a clear polyaspartic top coat is the final step in our process. This is what gives the floor its beautiful shine and durable protection. After we apply the clear coat, you will need to wait 24 hours for foot traffic, 48 hours for vehicle traffic, and 72 hours before sliding contents across the floor. Also, no rubber mats should be used on the floor for the first 2 weeks.

After the floor is dry (between 1 to 2 hours, depending on weather), we use our floor scrapers to lightly scrape the floor to remove extra and raised flakes. We then recover all excess flakes and vacuum the floor one final time.

This is getting good! While the base coat of tinted polyurea is still wet, we quickly broadcast the blend of colored vinyl flakes that you've selected across the floor. We use a LOT of flakes on each floor - as our goal is to cover the floor to rejection... or more than it needs. Now it's time to let the floor start to cure.

It's time for the garage floor coating transformation to REALLY begin... next up we'll apply the base coat. We apply a coat of tinted polyurea (in a color that matches the flake blend you've selected) to the floor, by squeegeeing it out and then back-rolling for even coverage. Polyurea is a penetrating and flexible product, unlike epoxy, which dries hard like glass on the surface of your concrete floor, and is prone to cracking and peeling. We do NOT use epoxy on garage floors.

This garage floor has already come a long way! After the two-part flexible joint filler has dried in the cracks & seams, it's time to grind it flush to the floor, and vacuum the floor to remove any final dirt or debris. Next up - it's base coat time!

As you'll remember from yesterday's garage floor coating installation post, your garage floor has been prepped and is ready for product. First up, we'll use a v-blade to open any existing cracks and seams, which we'll then clean out so that they are ready to accept filler. We'll then fill the cracks and seams using a two-part flexible joint filler. This material is expensive, but it works! This is the same material that is used to fill cracks on bridge spans in Minnesota.

It's time to install your new garage floor coating! After we unload our trailer, we'll get to work prepping your floor by grinding it with grinders fitted with diamond blades, to profile the surface of the concrete and prepare it for the base coat to bond with. Basically, our goal is to reveal a fresh and new concrete surface before we start applying products. All of our prep equipment is attached to vacuums, which creates a dustless work environment.

Alright... let's start talking about all things garage floor coatings. First up - your estimate.

When we arrive for your estimate, we'll examine the current condition of your floor, discuss the many benefits of having a garage floor coating (protects your floor from further wear & tear, completely transforms your garage, is easy to clean and maintain, etc.), review installation logistics and scheduling (most floor coatings take 1-2 days to install), answer any questions you might have, determine if you'll need a storage container to house your belongings during installation (that we will source for you!)... and our favorite part, discuss which color flake blend you'd like to select. Whew!
