Welcome to our new director, Blanca Davila! ✌️🧡

Join us in welcoming our new director of Professional Education & Workforce Development, Blanca Davila! 🎉🧡

A Brownsville native, Blanca earned her Masters in Public Policy & Management in 2015 with UT Brownsville. Prior, Blanca earned her bachelors in Applied Sociology at Texas State University in 2010.

Prior to joining UTRGV, Blanca was the Economic Development Director at the Mission Economic Development Corporation (Mission EDC) where she was responsible for the city’s business development strategy which included business recruitment, retention, and expansion. From 2020 to 2022, Blanca was the City of Edinburg’s Economic Development Director. While there, she managed strategy and the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EEDC)’s industry recruitment, job creation and incentives, marketing, along with supporting small business development, downtown revitalization efforts, and workforce programs. She participated in and led the implementation of the award-winning Stimulus Program Aimed at Recovery from COVID (SPARC) Program where $2 million dollars were invested directly to Edinburg’s small business community and residents.

As Director of Community and Economic Development at the Lower Rio Grande Development Council during 2017 to 2020, she successfully led the merger of two departments. In addition, she effectively worked closely with about 40 cities in the RGV facilitating regional Economic Development, Tourism, Solid Waste, Water Resources, Community Development, and Disaster Recovery programs.

We are excited for Blanca to join UTRGV and continue the tradition of success and excellence at our beloved university! ✌️
