HEARTWORM TREATMENT IN DOGS. I have had a few clients come in telling me there dogs are being treated at other facilities for heartworms using proheart 12. Proheart 12 is a preventative and not a treatment for heartworms. Please do not think your dogs are cured or rid of heartworms because they were given 2 proheart 12 injections 6 months apart. That is giving the dogs 2 years of prevention in 6 months. Please first of all make sure your pet is on hw prevention and if not get it tested. If your dog has heartworms please have them treated the right way. Heartworm treatment is 3 months of prevention first. The dogs then have chest x-rays to make sure the lungs are healthy and can recieve the dying heartworms. Labs are done to make sure the liver can handle the treatment. They then get an injection in the muscle of the back of the medication to kill the worms and are started on pain medication for a few days. They return a month later and get 2 injections 24 hours apart. They never come off of prevention during the treatment. Also they are tested 6 months after the treatment.

I have been back to work part time this week and will be back to full schedule next week. I am glad to be back. I might be moving a little slower for a short period of time, but will take the best care of your pets.

I will be having my surgery on Monday 9-13-21 The staff will be here to fill scripts and get follow labs. I will be checking in periodically to answer questions. I will probably not be able to check in next week as will be in the hospital.

I am sorry to tell you that I will have to be out starting September 13th. I am not sure how long I will be out. I will be having bypass surgery. I have not been able to find a relief veterinarian as of yet. I am continuing to look. The staff will still be available to answer questions and refill meds as needed. I will work hard to be back as soon as possible.

We have opened the doors. Come in with your pet. We just ask that you limit family with the pet to 2 people. Also masks are optional.
