We had so much fun today working with the teachers from 9 different school districts who attended the 2023 STEM Teacher Workshop. The teachers did a wonderful job and are well prepared to help our K-12 students who will participate in the 2023 STEM Summer Camps. Looking forward to seeing everyone during our summer camps in June.

The University Transportation Center for Railway Safety (UTCRS) at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) receives a $10 Million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to develop and deploy smart technologies for safer railways. This grant will support many research, education, workforce development, technology transfer, and community engagement activities geared towards promoting safety in rail transportation.

Four UTCRS students who received the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship presented their research during the 2023 Transportation Research Board Poster Session. The students included two graduate Hispanic female students (Ms. Layda Spor Leal and Ms. Danna Capitanachi-Avila) and two undergraduate Hispanic male students (Mr. Abel Sanchez-Trinidad and Mr. Santana Gutierrez). We are really proud of these students and the wonderful work they are doing to improve railway safety.👏
