Join us this Sunday, August 18th, to welcome the Reverend Amy Moses-Lagos to our pulpit for a service entitled "The Right to Flourish: Seeking Educational Justice" at 10:00am in Chapman Hall and live-streamed online. There is a crisis in our education system in Washington State. Schools are facing budget deficits, laying off staff and cutting programs. How did we get here, and how do our Unitarian Universalist values inform our response?

We're looking forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10:00am in Chapman Hall and live-streamed online to welcome Guest Minister Reverend Natalie Malter for a service entitled "The Joy of Giving."
Our UU values, as outlined in the newly approved Article II Bylaws, call us to build a faith community based on justice, interdependence, equity, transformation, pluralism, and generosity with love at the center. Article II proclaims that generosity is deeply connected to “a spirit of gratitude and hope... connecting us to one another in relationships of interdependence and mutuality." How can we as a faith community turn to generosity to provide us hope in the midst of these uncertain times? Join us on Sunday as we explore this question together.

We're looking forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10:00am in Chapman Hall and live-streamed online to welcome Guest Minister Elisabeth Maaike Geschiere for a service "Lament as Justice in Public." The writer adrienne maree brown says it beautifully: "a broken heart can cover more territory." This Sunday, we will explore how practices of grief and lament are interconnected with love and liberation. This will be a service with several invitations to sing (or listen) together!

Memorial Day Prayer
Spirit of Life
whom we have called by many names
in thanksgiving and in anguish—
Bless the poets and those who mourn
Send peace for the soldiers who did not make the wars
but whose lives were consumed by them
Let strong trees grow above graves far from home
Breathe through the arms of their branches
The earth will swallow your tears while the dead sing
“No more, never again, remember me.”
For the wounded ones, and those who received them back,
let there be someone ready when the memories come
when the scars pull and the buried metal moves
and forgiveness for those of us who were not there
for our ignorance.
And in us, veterans in a forest of a thousand fallen
promises,
let new leaves of protest grow on our stumps.
Give us courage to answer the cry of humanity’s pain
And with our bare hands, out of full hearts,
with all our intelligence
let us create the peace.
