It's time for the LFCS annual Jogathon Fundraiser! This year we are raising money for field trips!! We have BIG plans, and BIG dreams for our kiddos.

Dear LFCS community,
This week LFCS will be before the SDCOE Board of Education for two public hearings. One for our charter renewal, which must occur every 5 years so that we can continue on and the second to add the new address of our one day “built” high school. We are hopeful that this project will start during the new charter term, so we must add the new address to the charter. This is the most sensitive issue we will deal with because of the opposition to the project by some outsiders. Getting this address added to the charter is a necessity for our project to move forward.
Unlike in years past, where we all gathered and stuffed ourselves into the board room, this year will all be done via zoom meetings.
WE need you to be a part of this meeting just like we needed you to be present at the County meetings in person in years past! . We also need you to provide comments, both written and in person.
Written comments may be submitted up to the meeting day. Comments in person may be made but there is a process for this. All live public comment requests must be submitted no later than 12 p.m. (noon) on the day of the meeting to allow for SDCOE staff to distribute call-in information to individual speakers.

WHO: All TK - 8th grade LFCS families

WHAT: Jog4Tech fundraiser. We are raising money for our ongoing technology needs, and celebrating together with a jogging event!

WHERE: Each campus will host their own jogging events, and money is collected online through pledgestar.com/patriotlegacy

WHEN: Prizes will be awarded for any money given between Feb 1st-28th. Jogging will happen the week of Feb 22nd.

WHY: Access to up to date technology is one of the key factors that sets LFCS apart from neighborhood schools. From replacing old Chromebook for students to check out for home use, to teacher laptops, new software programs and online subscriptions....technology is an unending expense our school faces everyday.

HOW: Your family can send 'Pledge Requests' (an email to friends and family) asking for donations. All you do is enter their email addresses, or select them from your contacts, and a letter is automatically generated and sent on your behalf. Your family can respond by donating through Paypal, or by mailing a check to the school. They can even leave you an encouraging message. You can share your request on social media, and get even more donations!

I am from a small village called Chase in British Columbia, Canada. We had lots of snow in the winter and every summer we swam in the lake and went to camp!

Sea life! Zane could learn about it all day everyday and never get tired of it. The aquarium has been a great resource.

We go on a lot of nature hikes, at the beach or local trails by our house . There is endless learning out in nature, our boys thrive outdoors.

I love to bake cakes! After I finished my MA in Education I wanted to find something to fill my time. So I decided to take up baking and cake decorating. I spent a lot of time on Youtube and in the kitchen and have loved every minute of it!

Well honestly, some days just don’t go as planned and that’s the beauty of homeschool. We have the flexibility to space out our learning throughout the day as needed. A typical day begins at 9am with a break for lunch around noon and then finishing our last core subject after lunch.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒖𝒎 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒚?
Learning Dynamics was a huge blessing to our kindergartner this past school year. Learning to read didn’t come as naturally to him as it did to our older two kids and this curriculum really helped him through that process!

We love the school Literacy First Charter School and all the teachers. When we had to start homeschooling it was not a hard decision to make because all of the help and support we had already received. We knew we would get that same help and support through freedom.

I'm a quirky chef in that I like having recipes as a guide but rarely ever measure and typically add or change ingredients often, so I don't think I will ever be known for writing a cookbook ;) Our trip to Italy a few years back really left an impression on me, so now I love to recreate some of our favorite meals from there- seafood pasta with a white lemon sauce is one my absolute favs!
