San Diego Gives is a year-round program that culminates in an online, region-wide Day of Giving on Thursday, September 5th.

Community HousingWorks’s mission directly cares for the community because we believe opportunity begins with a stable home. Our unique approach extends beyond affordable housing. In addition to providing stable homes in healthy communities, we offer powerful programs, services and resources to help set up residents in our communities for success.

Together, we can create a brighter, more equitable future for all San Diegans. Your support means the world to us and the community we serve.

A local San Diego supporter has generously committed a $2,000 match to support resident services at CHW communities. This means if we reach our $2,000 goal, our total will be doubled.

Help us reach our $2,000 goal! Double your impact and unlock the match!

We ❤️our volunteers! They keep us going & we couldn't do this without them. Donna O'Brien is one of our dedicated board members, who also spends time at the clinic helping get the garden in order & comes with us to health fairs to talk to folks about what we do. We're so grateful for Donna's time and energy - and her experience as a registered nurse provides her with valuable insight into how we can best serve those who need us.

This week is National Physicians Week, and this Saturday, March 30th, we celebrate National Doctors’ Day. It's a time to recognize the dedication and caring of physicians who dedicate their lives to helping us – whether it’s staying healthy when we’re well, or regaining our health when we’re not.

Doctors are among the most influential people in our lives, and it would be impossible to live as well without them.

Every day, people throughout San Diego County struggle with choosing between paying for food and a place to live, or going to the doctor and getting their needed medications.

Our doctors at Volunteers in Medicine are working hard to make sure that quality healthcare is a reality for all. Join us in honoring our exceptional family of physicians at Volunteers in Medicine San Diego. They not only volunteer their time, but they also invest their care and compassion for each one of our patients.

A big shout out to our team of physicians:

Primary care:

Steven Golbus, MD, Medical Director
Tryna Ramos, MD
Sandra Jassmann, MD
David Polster, MD

Specialists:
Dr Rosemary McHugh, Psychologist
Dr Eric Drimmer, Psychiatrist
Dr Ken Greenberg, Chiropractor
Dr Carolle Jean-Murat, Diabetes Director
Dr Eduardo Fricovsky, Pharmacist
Dr Brooke Resh-Sateest, Dermatologist
Dr Lu Fan, Acupuncturist

And in honor of all the physicians out there, but especially one who has touched your life, please consider making a donation. Your gift will help insure that our volunteer doctors can keep providing essential services to those in need. (the link to our donation page is in the comments)

We’re VIM San Diego…But How Did We Begin…

Our History

Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) began in Hilton Head, South Carolina—born out of the kind heart of a retired physician—Jack McConnell. The good doctor often gave rides to hitchhikers and was shocked to learn that many of them were among a much larger problem…millions of people with no access to healthcare through no fault of their own. Because he was a man of action, he started the first VIM clinic in 1993. Since that first clinic, VIM has become a national organization whose primary purpose is to establish neighborhood medical clinics that serve the uninsured families in a Culture of Caring.
