MINNIE RIPERTON
Minnie Riperton was an American singer-songwriter, best known for her extraordinary five-octave vocal range and her hit song “Lovin’ You.” Born on November 8, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, she began her career in the 1960s as a member of the girl group The Gems and later joined the band Rotary Connection. Riperton’s solo career took off in the 1970s, particularly with her acclaimed album “Perfect Angel,” which showcased her unique blend of soul, R&B, and pop.

Despite her rising fame, Riperton faced personal challenges, including a battle with breast cancer, which ultimately took her life on April 12, 1979, at the age of 31. Her legacy endures through her music and influence on future artists, and she is celebrated for her emotive singing style and innovative contributions to the music industry.
