Good Afternoon East Parents!

Wednesday, August 28th, 2024 marks our first Scholar Led Conference of the 2024-2025 school year. With our focus being on STAAR scores, grades, high school credits, and iXL results we hope to have great conversations about where your scholar is at and what they and our teachers are doing together in the classroom to help them reach their academic goals.

Our Scholar led conferences will start at 1:00pm and continue until 6:00pm that day and scholars must be present with their parents during this event!

We are asking all Middle School Parents to schedule their appointment with their scholars teacher by calling our front office at (915)298-3901.

High School Parents do not need to make an appointment as they will be seen on a first come first serve basis.

Due to our Scholar Led Conferences taking place that day our campus will be following an early release schedule. Both our Middle School and High School scholars will begin school with their first class starting at 8:00am! Please ensure that your scholar arrives on campus by or before 7:45am that day. Middle School scholars will be released at 11:10am and our High School Scholars will be released at 11:45am. There will be NO lunch provided that day for any grade levels due to the early release.

Buses will begin taking scholars back starting at 11:10am with the release of middle school followed by High School. Our transportation department will be adjusting their morning pick up times to ensure that scholars arrive to campus on time.

Hi! We are looking to get support for Mr. Martinez, a teacher here at El Paso Leadership Academy East. Here's more information from Mr. Martinez:

"Our students are curious, motivated, and eager to embrace the challenges of chess. They bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the game, enriching our club with their unique insights and enthusiasm.

Chess is a unique educational tool that offers numerous cognitive benefits.
It enhances memory, improves concentration, and fosters logical reasoning. Students develop skills that translate to other areas of their lives by engaging in chess, including academic performance, decision-making, and even social interactions. The game's structured nature helps students learn to manage time and resources effectively, crucial skills both in and out of the classroom.

My mission is to foster a community where my students can come together to explore the rich complexities of chess, enhance their cognitive abilities, and cultivate essential life skills.

My Goal are to-
Promote Strategic Thinking: Our students will develop sharper problem-solving skills and a more analytical approach to challenges by engaging in regular play.

Encourage Patience and Discipline: Our club aims to help students build these qualities as they navigate each game, learn from their mistakes, and strive for continuous improvement.

Foster Community and Collaboration: Our club provides a welcoming environment where members can collaborate, share insights, and grow as a chess community.

Boost Confidence and Self-Esteem: Chess encourages them to set goals, work diligently, and take pride in their progress.

Hi Facebook Community, my name is Mr. Valdez Head of Schools at El Paso Leadership Academy and I am asking for you SUPPORT for Mr. Martinez, our middle school music teacher at El Paso Leadership Academy East. Here's more information from Mr. Martinez:

"I work for a Title I community school, and we need beginner musical instruments to work with under-privileged students who are new to the music program. We think outside the traditional band route and teach them the basic fundamentals of piano, guitar, bass guitar and drums to open their eyes to the wonderful world of music. Unfortunately, our school budget does not allow for 1-to-1 instruments. At the moment, we are practicing with only 4 instruments for a class of 28 students.

My goals for this project are for students to learn the basics of music, reading/writing/playing music, and the music industry itself and all the opportunities it presents apart from actually playing music instruments.

My students are not your typical students; most are under-privileged, low-income, and less fortunate than most in public school. Along with me, they would be very appreciative of your support.
