Our Story
El Muro’s Crawfish and Border Blues Music Festival...
Many El Paso’ens aren’t familiar with eating cajun style crawfish. But when they do, everything they thought they new about them changes with the first taste. As a kid my father taught me how to catch them with bacon and use them for bait. If we caught plenty of them we would cook them up and eat them much like a Mexican shrimp cocktail.
That changed when I moved to Houston and had my first taste of cajun crawdads. I instantly fell involve with the unfamiliar flavors and the spiciness that was unlike any I have ever tasted. With sweat coming down my brow I couldn't stop eating them. I chugged a cold beer to wash down the spice and continued to dig in to the pot.
I eventually learned to prepare the crawfish boil and was able to enjoy the new found love for this tasty morsel that at first seemed like to much trouble to eat. Once I learned the technique to eating the mud bugs there was no turning back.
