TBC - Gameday Summary

Toros Baseball Club had a solid pool play Saturday going 12-0 overall!

All 5 of our teams will compete in the gold bracket of their age group..

12U Carrillo took the #1 seed in big boy baseball and will play at 12:45 at Blackie Chester.
8U Arrieta also took top honors in coach pitch… and like usual; an inevitable Toros vs Toros in the semifinals is in the forecast as 8U Padilla ended up in the #4 seed.

10U Retana and Ontiveros will be seeded 2 and 5 in their bracket tomorrow and all odds point to a championship match between our two Toros Teams… but that’s why we play the games!! Anything can happen! In the end… we keep building.. we keep growing!

TBC - Championship Sunday

As prescribed, our Toros met in the semifinals of the 8U Open Gold and the game did not disappoint. 8U Arrieta had the lead in the top of the 5th when 8U Padilla scored 5 to go on top by 1. Shut down defense by 8U Padilla kept the score 8-7 for the win. Another great game in this series.. an amazing show of baseball and sportsmanship by both teams; this is what’s it’s all about. 8U Padilla lost to the Blue Jays in the ‘ship to take a respectable 2nd place.

12U Carrillo had an early exit into 12U Open Gold bracket in a close game that ended 6-5. A heart breaking 1-run loss but a great game indeed. Keep working hard boys.

But the story of the day is in the 10U division. Our Toros came into Sunday looking for their first bling in AAA baseball and they did not disappoint. Two great wins including a walk-off (see previous video) knock by Esgar Garza in the ‘ship to send the Toros home with the win. This team has come so far; great job kids. A great job of coaching by Jay, Andrew and yes, Puca too.. 😎💪⚾️🇺🇸

Congratulations to the 10U Boys and to all the Toros for trusting the process.

TBC - Game Day Post

8U Padilla and 8U Arrieta finished a combined 6-0 and 2-3 in the the standing for the 8U Open Gold Bracket. If the trend continues, they’ll likely meet in the semifinals and continue their friendly rivalry, both teams keep getting better for it.

10U Ontiveros had a rough start but recovered with a dominant performance in their second game. Finished 1-1 and missed the gold bracket by the runs-allowed tie-breaker; a solid performance so far in their first AAA tournament.

12U Carrillo has an early game this morning as the 5th seed in the gold bracket of big boy baseball. They finished 1-1 so it will take 3 wins to win the crown this Sunday.

Toros Baseball Club is ready to go for this event. TBC will have 4 teams participating; with 8U Padilla and 8U Arrieta for the Coach Pitch division. Plus 10u Ontiveros and 12U Carrillo in kid pitch.

10U Retana is off this weekend as their off-season conditioning program started yesterday.

A big shout-out to our Toros from Las Cruces, NM; the LC Sox will be participating in the USSSA Gilbert Grand Slam in Phoenix, AZ this weekend.

TBC Gameday - Championship Sunday

—- Toros 8U had a tough day in the double elimination bracket at the NCS Veterans Super NIT.

After wining their first game 15-4, they faced an up-and-coming EP Seminoles and dropped the game 13-6 in a highly contested game. The loss sent them to the loser bracket where the run ended with an 11-8 loss to SSB. A shortened roster affected the chemistry this weekend and the results did not go our way. Back to the drawing board for this squad.

— Our 10U Toros had a do-or-die battle vs the Arizona Baseball Academy in the semifinals of the USSSA Veterans Salute Majors Championship.

A win would put the Toros in the path of a rematch with Lopes Baseball to settle unfinished business from the tie the day before.

The Toros had a tough first inning and allowed 5 runs on two costly errors. Like usual; our Toros showed their toughness and how well they are coached; coming back to make it a game. The score was 6-5 in the last inning but AZBC scored 3 runs in the top of the 5th to make it 9-5.

Out Toros left runners on base for 5 innings and in the end ; it cost them the game. A well played game against a very talented AZ Baseball Academy team.. Lopes and Toros will have to wait for the next one; as coaches agreed to “keep in touch” in order to coincide in January for a rematch. In the end; it is the relationships that we build along the way, that add to the joy of youth baseball. Much respect to all the coaching staffs this weekend. We all met some really cool people on this one.

All-tournament performances from Derek, Carlos, Christian, Cash and Santi. But a well played tournament all around!!

Toros 8U - Padilla is the sole club represo at the NCS Vererans super NIT in las cruces, NM.

Their tournament will continue today for bracket plays after a 1-0-1 pool play record.

Game time is 8am.

TBC Game Day Snapshot Fri-Sat

Our Toros Baseball Club - 10U took a weekend trip to Peoria, AZ to participate in the USSSA Veterans Salute NIT Open.

After two days of round robin play; the team finished tied for 1st place and will compete as the 2nd seed (run differential ) in the Majors Division - Single Elimination - bracket tomorrow.

Game 1 vs. AZ Scorpions saw a great battle that ended in a 6-5 win for our Toros. A come-from-behind victory against a very competitive opponent. Worth to mention important plate-appearances by Derek, Cash and Carlos directly affected the outcome.

Game 2 vs. Lopes Baseball - This game, wow, what a game. It finally ended 10-10 after time limit. The toros jumped out to an early lead 4-0, only to see LB come back in the top of the 2nd with 8 runs. The Toros settled and showed a lot of heart , slowly coming back and finally tying the game in the bottom of the 5th innning. Even leaving the bases loaded with a chance to win it. A true baseball battle that kept fans and parents on the edge of their seat all game. Even our Coach’s wife made a walking path after pacing back and forth for 5 innings. 🤦‍♂️ Coach, like usual, was calm, cool and collected..

Game 3 vs. Marucci Midwest - Two solid pitching performances by Christian and John were the difference in a 4-2 win. A couple of clutch double plays and solid defense highlighted the game. These team had talent 1-9 but our defense was on point. Our offense had to manufacture runs, executing two clutch hit-and-runs and a squeeze-play to perfection.

Three well played games that could have gone either way; but the kids’ grit prevailed today. A shout out to Santi and Álex (and their parents) who are playing thru injuries but still supporting the team.

Toros 8U - Padilla is competing at the NCS Veterans Day Super NIT in Las Cruces, NM; we’ll post an update after their games end today.

TBC - Championship Sunday

After an amazing weekend of baseball, Toros Baseeball Club was well represented in two championship games… with the sole winner coming in the 10U division. .

Our Toros 10UAA - Ontiveros took home the Gold Bracket Championship by going 3-0 when it counts. A nerve-racking extra inning game in their first match against a resilient Wolfpack Squad was the catapult for things to come. They won that game in walk-off fashion and the momentum carried them thru their next two games; by then the sticks could not be stopped; overall, they showed a high quality of baseball in both games. The win earned them a promotion to 10UAAA for the rest of the season; a well deserved recognition.

Our Two Toros 8U Teams faced each other in the semifinal with 8U Padilla edging Arrieta’s kids in a highly competitive game. 8U Padilla took home 2nd place after falling to a hot Texas Venom.

Toros 10UAAA Retana led a 9-man squad into the Gold semifinals where they ran into a dominant pitching performance by the LC Sox ace… falling 4-0 but showing the high level of competitive drive the kids posses.

12U Toros had a tough first game in the Open bracket and fell to EPT Baseball who came out with a dominant pitching performance.

Game Day Snapshot!

Shot out to the 8U squads finishing 2-3 in the AAA Gold Bracket after going undefeated in pool play. Ranking Points kept Padilla’s 8U from finishing 1st and Arrieta’s 8U ended up in 3rd by the smallesst runs-allowed margin.

Ontiveros’ 10U dominated their games and finished on a 3-way tie for 1st; USSSA Ranking Points tie-breaker went into effect and they were placed 3rd in AA Gold Bracket.

Retana’s 10U ran into a tough opponent dropping their first game 6-4. Still, they managed to make the AAA Gold bracket with a solid victory on their second game for a 1-1 start.

In big boy baseball; Carrillo’s 12U Toros finished the day 2-0 , winning close games against two though teams…. In the end; run differential put them in 5th place in a very competitive Open Gold Bracket

Our Toros 12U and Toros 10U already participated in October tournaments out of town with 10U falling in the championship game in their event, while our 12U representative brought home a hard-earned tournament championship from Tucson, AZ.

Congratulations to Toros 12u on overcoming a slow start to the weekend in Tucson and coming out victorious at the end. Special shout out to the Sahuarita Sidewinders 12u for a championship played tough. Class act organization and coaches. We move forward now onto the next challenge.

Next to last game for our Toritos 4U and the kids are having a blast.

Toros vs. Toros turned out to be a competitive low scoring affair. 10U Ontiveros came out on top 4-2 in their first ever official meeting.

10U Retana was coming off a dominant Labor Day showing, winning the Gold Bracket undefeated and out-scoring their opponents 45-8 . But in the end, a great job of pitching and defense for the younger team made the difference. Very proud of them for stepping up to the challenge and taking a well deserved victory. Keep it up!

Wild and fun off day at the DFW World Series in Arlington, TX
The boys attended the Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros game and had an opportunity to walk the field along with over 100 participating teams. Great experience for the boys and an amazing dump of lifetime memories … thank you parents!

Both 9U teams and our 11U team ended the day 1-1.
