Medical Assistant Job Description:
We are seeking to hire a Medical Assistant who will be responsible for assisting with administrative duties at SUN NEURO PA. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for obtaining patient records and test results, coordinating daily administrative tasks, preparing treatment rooms for examinations, and assisting our practitioner during medical procedures. To be successful in this role, you will need to have trained in a medical assistant program and have some prior experience in a medical setting. A basic understanding of patient care and medical terminology will be a huge advantage for you. *Must be open to additional responsibilities as position and performance evolves.
Medical Assistant Responsibilities:
General/Basic office duties.
Obtaining and document: referrals and/or authorizations (imaging/office visits/procedures etc.), medical histories, vitals, test results and ALL other information required for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Coordinating the daily administrative activities, including scheduling, eligibility, patient check-in and check-out, orders, prescriptions, and ALL patient medical record maintenance in EMR.
Preparing treatment rooms for clinical examinations and assisting practitioners with medical procedures and ALL other patient care.
Delivering compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
Preparing and administering medications for patients as directed by physicians.
Schedule, reschedule and cancel appointments.
Take phone calls from patients, labs, and physicians.
Documents in telephone notes and assigns to proper staff and respond to all messages accordingly.
Ensure health care patients receive excellent customer service.
Check ALL voicemails and respond to phone calls accordingly.
Contact patients and schedule overdue/required appointments.
Call patients to remind them of upcoming appointments.
Comply with office policy, procedures, and directives as provided by management.
Assist with patient payments.
Maintain/Order medication samples accordingly.
Assist in managing medical billing. (Collections)
Assist in translation for patients/physician when needed, while maintaining confidentiality.
Maintaining clinic, rooms, equipment clean/disinfected.
Medical Assistant Requirements:
Must have training from a medical assistant program or military medical corpsman program.
Experience in a medical setting.
Have high school diploma, or equivalent.
A basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel.
Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems.
Team work oriented: will work along side 2 other Medical Assistants
