Today we honor the 23 victims of the Aug. 3, 2019 mass shooting here in El Paso, Texas.

This tragedy has forever marked El Paso but it has not made our Borderland community withdraw in fear.
Instead, we have chosen to move forward, stronger than ever, as we await the justice we all deserve.

We commemorate the victims' lives and take a stand against white supremacy, racism and xenophobia.

While in San Francisco, I had the pleasure of joining a dear friend of mine at Cafe Mystique for food and cocktails.

A little but about this divine cafe:
is where you find delicious and fresh gourmet food. It features American, Italian and Mediterranean dishes using fair-trade products from local markets. Every plate that comes out of their kitchen is rich in authentic flavors and ingredients.

Okay, back to my experience!
It was nice to sit and take in all the hustle and bustle happening right outside our window.
Our waiter was wonderful and the Lamb Risotto I ordered was full of flavors and had a beautiful presentation, too!

Yes, the food looks just as good as it tastes! 😋

The taste of the risotto tantalizes your taste buds and leaves you craving for more. 🤤

It could not have been more spectacular. I would highly recommend it to everyone!

I love the idea of experiencing growth.
Consistently!

For example, when I reflect on the tasks I have accomplished or completed in the last 7 years, I can’t help but notice that those undertakings, both in my personal and professional life, haven’t always been the easiest. Some overwhelmed me to the point of frustration. I would ask myself, “Why?”

But I did them anyway because they pushed me out of my comfort zone. I was on a mission, big and small.

I’ll let you in on a little secret- If I remain in the same routine for too long, I become bored and restless.

I remedy that by constantly keeping myself busy with new projects.
It is so important for me and my mental health to constantly find new ways to challenge myself, to keep my mind busy.

I guess you can say that my brain is wired differently.
Change and growth, for me, is what makes life interesting. They work hand in hand.

Same is boring.
I need to spice it up!
Shake things up!

People of the world, spice up your life!
Every boy and every girl, spice up your life!

My Story

When I decided to take the plunge and write my first book, I never imagined that so many opportunities would arise from this venture – opportunities like traveling around the country, teaching numerous children, and continuing to witness first-hand the powerful effect learning has on individuals. In my journey to share my work and promote literacy, I have met many people from various walks of life from all over the world. I have been able to provide a little joy and comfort by reading my work to children suffering with Cancer at a non-profit organization in California - Family House San Francisco. It is during these moments that I feel truly blessed to be able to pursue my passion for writing, educating and literacy for the vulnerable in society. The outpouring of emotion from various communities, including my very own right here in El Paso, has motivated me further to push forward my work with even greater urgency. In continuing to spread the message, I believe children everywhere should have access to learning, books and stories.

As I work towards building on my dreams, I hope to create a body of work for all of you to enjoy and share for years to come. I also welcome the opportunity to use this platform to be a positive role-model and inspiration to every adult and child I have the privilege of meeting on this journey.
