We are so very excited to announce something wonderful coming to Sugar & Rhyme this upcoming Wednesday…

Introducing our newest product: Macarons.

Come Wednesday, we shall have 6 (!) incredible flavors to choose from at Sugar & Rhyme. This project has been in the making for some time now, and we are finally ready to release these gorgeous and unforgettable (gluten-free!) cookies to Downtown Elgin.

“Wait just a minute, Kelly. When did Chef Garrett have time to make these while still being able to bake us all fresh croissants daily?”, you ask? Well – Chef isn’t making them! Sugar & Rhyme has partnered with Chef Kaytlin of Sugar Bloom Baking Co., and she specializes in irresistible French Macarons, among other fantastic and adorable delights. 🎉🎉🎉We have some news! 🎉🎉🎉
First, the good news. The good news is that our brand new Astoria Espresso Machine is up and running after installation this weekend! The flavor profile of our Peacemaker Espresso has been taken to a new tier of delicious - and we cannot wait for you to try it for yourself! On that note, please understand that we are training on our new machines and processes and during this time we kindly ask for your patience as we navigate this great shift in our normal flow.

The bad news... is not that bad, really! Thanks to routine servicing, we were able to catch two internal leaks in our current Astoria Steamer Machine. The Steamer is currently down for maintenance. This means that during this time we will have slower production of hot steamed beverages, and we may even have to exclude steamed beverages during times of high traffic in the shop and potentially this coming Saturday and Sunday. We will post updates on our social media sites as we learn and adjust!
(Iced Shakeratos, Iced/Hot Americanos, regular coffee, teas, and smoothies would still be available.)

We hope to have this issue resolved very soon, and we thank you for your understanding and all the warmth you have shown us since we first set up our little store.

This is a major step for our operation - and we are so, so thrilled. Our new Astoria Espresso Machine and our new grinding and tamping system would not have been possible without the $10,000 Backing Small Businesses Grant that we were awarded this summer, presented by American Express in partnership with Main Street America. We were overjoyed to be 1 of the 500 recipients of this program! The support and kindness shown toward our coffeehouse since November 2022 has just been unbelievably motivating. So thank you, to all the individuals who have lifted us up with their support. This would not be possible without you!

Love Your Life: This light and refreshing caffeine-free tea has a delicate rose tint to it. Made up of calming chamomile, rose buds, vanilla bean and hisbiscus petals this tea is truly a treat to oneself.

Plum & Spice: A deep burgundy tea made up of fruity and tart flavors with a pop of spice from cinnamon chips and ginger root. A whisper of blue cornflower petals is paired with both cranberries and apple pieces infused with the flavor of ripe red plums which really bring this blend to a harmony. Ask for a little honey or agave with your cup!

Jasmine Special Grade: This tea is Chef's personal favorite, and the most delicate one we serve! Sweet jasmine buds gently steep among dark twisted green leaves to produce that one-of-a-kind experience that is only obtained through an incredible cup of tea.

We also currently carry English Breakfast, Wake Up!, and Moroccan Mint. Everything we've ever tried from Steep N' Clay's shop has been downright incredible. See for yourself!
