On August 2, 2011, our then-CEO, Dennis Love, announced the creation of a new women’s network at Printpack: Inspire. While Inspire has now been around for over eleven years, due to the COVID pandemic, we are having a slightly delayed recognition of its 10-year anniversary. Today, we will celebrate ten years of Inspire and the impact it has had on our female as well as male associates.

Throwback Thursday!
Today's Printpack Elgin campus opened in 1965, a new state-of-the-art modern facility featuring an engineered "Product Line Layout" to provide the best efficiencies possible.
It was built by Standard Packaging Corporation, founded in 1919, one of the most fully, vertically integrated firms in the packaging industry. The firm owned its own pulp, paper and foil mills, and produced numerous products at factories around the country from that raw material such as printed film, paper, and foil products, cartons, metalized materials, paper dishes, paper and plastic linings, playing and greeting cards, mail products, and many other packaging and goods. Eugene J. Trandel was the general manager of the Flexible Packaging Division plant in Elgin, IL.
Our campus became part of the Printpack family when J. Erskine Love, Jr. strategically acquired it from Standard Packaging Corporation in 1978.
Thank you to Elizabeth Marston, director of the Elgin History Museum, for providing us with this photo and information. https://elginhistory.org/

‘PRESERVING AND ENHANCING PEOPLE'S LIVES’
At Printpack, we keep investing in three key areas to deliver more for our customers: our equipment, our people and our community. Investing in the latest printing technology and materials helps us innovate and keep running faster, stronger and better. We invest heavily in our people through training and education initiatives to ensure we are collectively providing the best expertise and service and providing our own associates career mobility opportunities. And finally, we invest in our community through our sustainability and charitable practices and partnerships.
Built in 1965 by Standard Packaging Corporation, the modern Elgin plant was the most efficient of its kind at the time, featuring an engineered “Product Line Layout.” Printpack acquired Standard Packaging Corporation in 1978 and has reinvested numerous times in the Elgin facility creating jobs along the way including expanding in 1987, adding 2 new printing presses in 1998, and most recently, renovating and adding new machinery in 2021. Printpack is a place where trust, respect and teamwork are highly valued; this environment fosters a great deal of innovation and encourages continuous process improvement. The Printpack Elgin workforce is diverse, skilled, innovative, mobile and among the most productive in the world. We are seeking highly motivated and ambitious individuals looking for rewarding, well-paid careers that provide numerous opportunities for advancement within the plant and company.
Printpack prides itself on our culture supported by employee-centric appreciation. We prioritize positivity so beyond recruitment, posts on our page will include appreciation, recognition, and contributions of individual Team Members, groups, the Elgin Plant, and the entire Printpack organization.

As a proud sponsor of the Hefty Energy Bag program ( ), we are excited to announce that to date, Cobb County in Georgia has recycled 75,984 pounds of hard-to-recycle plastics.
These plastics have been turned into diesel fuel, oil, wax, new plastics, and aggregate for building blocks as a direct result of the HEB program.
Hefty Energy Bags are made from 20% recycled content and are coming soon to a store near you in brand new packaging! Let's keep up !
Today is and we are highlighting our very own – Alan Belcher, one of Printpack’s Senior Product Stewardship Engineers.
Alan says, “Packaging is an asset that has served such a great purpose – protecting the food that we eat. It deserves to become more than just trash at the end of its life. That is why I am so drawn to the idea of compostable packaging. It mitigates packaging waste while driving more food to compost – for example: consumers could include their lettuce bags with their veggie scraps in their home compost bin where they can both become part of a nutrient rich soil that can be used to grow more food. It is an amazing cycle. I believe in this process, but I know we have a long way to go. Material availability, infrastructure, consumer acceptance and many other factors must be resolved before this future becomes a reality. I am passionate about the role that I get to play in making progress towards this goal.”
