to the 1950’s. Our terminals had offices for the terminal manager and other employees, garages for the repair mechanics, a gas pump and frequently a bunkhouse. These terminals were not very big, but sufficient to get the job done!

We are highlighting Lanxang “Lang” Somsamaivong, one of our incredible E-Town Mechanics. 🌟 Lang has been working at LCL since October 25, 2021, and we are so happy to have him on our team!

Lang says his favorite part of the job is “That I get to do what I like every day and more importantly to help drivers get back on the road to deliver!” What he likes most about the company is that it is a family-owned company that takes care of and appreciates their employees and customers. Lang describes the company culture as very organized and that everyone does their part to keep each other rolling.

When Lang is not rocking it at LCL he likes to spend time with his wife and kids, travel and go sightseeing. Thank you for all of your important and phenomenal work! You are a very valuable member of the LCL Bulk Transport team and we appreciate all you do!

One of the employees, Jack Gloeckler, describes his introduction to this terminal in 1962: “I spent my first week at the Chicago terminal, which was located at 2900 West Lake Street at that time. I had not spent much time in this part of Chicago and this was a real eye-opener. You drove into the terminal entrance by going under “elevated” train tracks.”
