B&D Crafts
We make a number of items with wood and epoxy resin.
Some of the items we make are charcuterie boards, bottle stoppers, cheese knife & fork sets, table tops, and wall art.
Well things have been a bit slow here at the sprawling B&D Craft complex since we got back from our European vacation but rest assured we are still here.
Here is our latest completed project. It is a large lazy susan. The top measures 22.5” across. We didn’t make this for anyone in particular so if you have to have it, let us know. Or, if you want one in a different color, let us know because I do have a couple more bases.
Even on vacation we find ourselves at an outdoor market!!!
Just a reminder that we are pimping our stuff today down in Lodi, CA. at Jessie’s Grove Winery for their “Flower Festival”. This is a ticketed event and you will need to purchase a ticket for $10 to enter. Hope to see some of our friends at this event.
The crew is going to do 1 more pour before closing up for vacation. This Sunday we will ready some boards for finishing in late August. I’m going to pour one the most popular designs we do with the board shown below but don’t know what color to use. I’m posting our latest version in blue. So give us some ideas that you’d like to see in it.
The massive complex will be closing up for a couple of weeks at the end of the month to allow the overpaid employees to take some time off. But before they’re unchained from the stations, we asked for a couple more items to get out the door before we leave. And boy did they step up to the challenge. Here at the last production items till late August. Some of the staff are heading to Europe (Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal) on a cruise.
Here are a few more from the massive compound here at B&D Crafts.
A very good friend of ours asked us to make a top for a wine rack that he made and could also use an extension to their dining room table. This table had to be a specific size so that if could cozy right up to the table. It is 59”L x 24”W x 1-5/8”D. It t**e the humongous staff here at B&D Crafts 6 weeks to complete and it was delivered to the clients yesterday. The clients sent us some photos of the completely finished project. We are beyond thrilled of how this looks. We hope you like the photos as well.
Disclaimer; B&D Craft only made the top. Cabinet and top hardware were done by the client (Mauro Garcia).
The staff worked a little OT to get these last few boards out before this weekend’s Art Fiesta at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center. Come on by and she these boards in person.
Our social media person must have forgotten about all the coasters we produce. Here are a couple of sets we’ll with us this weekend as well.
The whip is crackin and the production is movin here at the sprawling compound of B&D Crafts. Here are a couple of boards we’ll be showcasing at this weekend’s Art Fiesta.
Who’s going to be in and around Downtown Sacramento this weekend? If you are, come by and visit us at the 66th Annual Art Fiesta at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center on H St. The art show is being put on by the Sacramento Suburban Kiwanis Club. B&D Crafts were invited to participate in the art show and we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this!!
Who’d thought we be involved in a “art” show!!!
Come out and visit us on either, or both, Saturday and Sunday.
Well it’s been a while since our last post but the overly friendly staff here at B&D Crafts have been busy!! Here are couple of boards that are fresh out of the factory. Please that is know your thoughts on the clear board with the pistachio rounds. It is the first time we have done anything like that one.
Hey y’all come out this Sunday and take a stroll down Old Sutter St in Historic Folsom and do some shopping at the Spring Arts & Crafts fair. B&D Crafts will proudly be there from 9am - 4pm offering up the items for purchase. Come on by and say “Hi”.
We have been asked a handful of times over the last couple of years “why are your items so expensive”?
Well, let us give you one example why…. The photo here is of our latest order of epoxy. What you see here is $2000 worth of epoxy. This doesn’t include the forms, tools (planers, sanders, saws both circular and chain), & other supplies.
Everybody here at B&D Crafts is very grateful for all the support we have received over the last couple years!!!
Now let’s get to work!!!!!
The warehouse is buzzing with excitement!!!
The epoxy is in!!
The epoxy is in!!!!!
Finally!!!!!!!
The highly caffeinated staff here at B&D Crafts are so excited to hear that the long awaited and 3 month overdue shipment of epoxy is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow!!! 🤞Fingers (and must toes) are crossed that it actually gets here!!! The gargantuan staff have projects lined up to get started on early this week.
Well, let the craft season begin!!!
We will be up in Folsom, CA. for the Spring Arts & Crafts Fair on Sunday April 28th, 2024. This fair is on old historic Sutter Street. It is a great day to come out to enjoy the spring weather and do some shopping. We to see you all up there!!!
The staff is still waiting for the damn epoxy to finally get here but they are resilient by making do with what little we have remaining in stock. They seem to be focused on make some smaller projects. Here are 2 of our smaller (10”x18”) charcuterie boards and some coasters. They really hope you enjoy these.
The highly over paid staff at B&D Crafts is still getting a couple items out of the warehouse and into the showroom during this epoxy shortage. We are being told “checks in the mail” as we should see our order in the coming days. We told “ALL” of the staff to keep their fingers crossed and we may receive it next week.
Ok, get your calendars out!! Our “mobile pop-up showroom” will be at local near you!!! We have confirmed a couple of craft fairs to start our season.
Saturday March 30th we will be down in Lodi at Jessie’s Grove Winery for their Easter and Wine Celebration. If you haven’t come to an event at the winery, you really need to!! This one of the best venues we take mobile pop-up showroom to.
**Update 3/30/2024**
Unfortunately we have decided not to participate in today's craft fair at Jessie's Grove Winery due to weather. We will attempt to reschedule for a later date. When I talked to the winery yesterday the craft fair is still going to be happening. Head out there for some good wine, great crafts & food, and wonderful music today.
Sunday April 28th we will back up in Historic Old Folsom at the Spring Arts and Crafts Fair on Sutter St.
Saturday and Sunday June 1st & 2nd we will in Downtown Sacramento at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center for the Kiwanis Art Festival.
We will have more in the coming months.
The whole complex here at B&D Crafts is bored!!! We need our damn epoxy to show up. As some of you know we get our epoxy from a land far away so it does take some planning on our part to not run out but this “slow boat out of China” is getting a bit ridiculous. The container has been at the Long Beach pier since February 5th and Homeland Security is taking their sweet time inspecting the contents. I did hear it finally was cleared but we still haven’t seen it yet. I’ve got the whole crew cleaning up and getting boards ready to build. We probably have enough wood ready for a 100 boards. Fingers crossed we see it soon.
The gargantuan staff was partying all night last night when we informed them that we will be a vendor at a “Art” showcase. We were approached at one of the craft fairs asking if we’d be interested in being a vendor at a art only (not a craft fair) 2 day showcase, Kiwanis Art Fiesta, in June and we jumped at the chance. We received confirmation yesterday that we have been accepted as a vendor. I don’t believe anyone in the massive staff here think of us as “artists” but I guess we is what we is!!!! The showcase will be Saturday & Sunday June 1st & 2nd at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center. Hopefully we will see you all there.
The ever expanding staff here at B&D Crafts are starting to get ready for the craft fair season. Let us know if there’s something we can put together for you!!!!
Just a little bit more live edge epoxy production from us here at B&D Crafts. All these are available for purchase.
Let us know if we can do something special for you.
B&D Crafts really enjoy making special pieces for special friends!!!
Our very good friends, The Brendle’s, stopped by the ever expanding compound for a tour. The minions putting on the finishing touches on some of our newest items, lazy susan, and she says “I would love one but much larger”. We picked out a couple pieces of black walnut and decided it would be a 22-23” round lazy susan. Now, all the “susans” we have produced have been 12” in size so this one would be the largest one to date. We, and the Brendle’s, couldn’t be happier for the way it came out!!!
And, wait, …….. there’s more!!!!
With this little stretch of warmer weather here at the compound the minions have been hard at work. You know what they say …”make hay while the sun is shining”!!!! Here are a couple more items fresh off the table.
Ok, I have an issue that I need to have y’all help me with.
As a small arts and crafts vendor we sign up for craft fairs and they charge us between $40 and $135(for the larger fairs) for a 10’x10’ space, which I don’t have an issue with, but then some of them tack on another 10% of sales fee. Man, that bothers the crap out of me!!! We don’t make a lot of money during these fairs. We average about $700 - $900 per fair. We (insert “I” here) bust our asses on producing our items, not to mention the overall cost of materials and equipment used to produce a finished item. We truly do keep the cost of our items in for front of what we do and do our very best to price them to just cover our overhead. So when we participate in a fair (which we have not yet) that adds the “percentage of sales fee” we have to raise our price on all products across the board to cover this fee. We are already an expensive craft. Let me add that this is a judged fair. Meaning we have to apply to the fair and then wait for the judges to accept us as vendors.
We have been asked to apply to participate in a June 2-day weekend fair here in Downtown Sacramento and the cost is $300 ($150 per day) plus 10% of all sales. Now “B” is not will to accept those terms but “D” is telling us we need to do it. Let us know your thoughts on this.
