Tonight was our final road trip! We went to New York and visited the Statue of Liberty. We talked about how it is a symbol of freedom. In Jesus we are have freedom from sin and sin's punishment. So we do everything out of love for Jesus by showing love to others. We learned about a servant girl who showed love to her master, Naaman. He had a sickness which couldn't be cured. So she told him about God and his prophet, Elisha, who could heal his sickness.

"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior toward mankind appeared, he saved us - not by righteous works that we did ourselves, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and the renewal by the Holy Spirit, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs in keeping with the hope of eternal life." - Titus 3:4-7
Yesterday in our worship service, through water and the Word in Holy Baptism, God welcomed Mia into his family as a redeemed child of God. May he strengthen her with his grace all the days of her life!

Do you understand why God provides for our physical needs?
What is at the heart of meaningful ministry? Pastor previewing this week's worship gives us the answer to that question in our Midweek Minute.
Tonight we held the second of our VBS Kids Summer Road Trip days. We traveled to St. Louis and marveled at the Gateway Arch. We talked about how people have the ability to do a lot of things like construct works of art like the arch. They have that ability because God gave it to them, but human ability has limitations. However, nothing is impossible with God! We saw that in our story where Jesus raised Jairus' daughter from the dead.
Our next road trip day is July 29.

A Prayer on Independence Day
Lord God almighty, you reign over all the earth! You are King of Kings, and to you every knee must ultimately bow. We thank you for this nation, our United States of America. You created government to be a blessing to your people. We recognize how especially blessed we American Christians are because freedom of religion and freedom of speech are guaranteed to us in our Bill of Rights. Help us to use these freedoms for a blessing, not only for ourselves but also for our fellow citizens. In freedom to worship, let us worship. In freedom of speech, let us build our fellow citizens up, and share the good news in our Savior Jesus.
Lord, bless our nation and its government. We ask for leaders who are wise, honest and diligent in their calling, but help us also to be citizens who reflect those same values in our lives. Bless all who work for our government, from its highest offices to the humblest office worker, that our country may enjoy good order and the blessings that you intended government to secure for its citizens. Especially protect and guide all who put themselves in harm’s way for their fellow citizens, our military, our fire departments, police and others who serve to protect us. Bless those who are nurturing and teaching the next generation of Americans. May our Independence Day celebrations reflect our gratitude for the undeserved blessings of prosperity and freedom which has been ours at this time in history. Whether we gather as families or citizens, at picnics or parades, may we reflect the joy of living under You in this blessed country! God bless America! Amen.
Today in our Midweek Minute, Pastor Heuer shares with us a little more about our next worship series, "Meaningful Ministry", as well as our focus for this coming Sunday.

Some pictures from our first kids road trip night! We went to the Grand Canyon and learned some interesting facts. We also learned how God in his power and love saved the Israelites from the poisonous snakes in the wilderness when they looked at the bronze snake on a pole. He saved us by sending Jesus who was nailed to a cross for our sins. Jesus closed the canyon of our sins that seperated us from God.
Our next road trip day is Monday, July 15.
