A reminder from your local Fire Departments.... help them just in case they need to help you!
You can turn this sucker off.
all the fire departments in the county need help. We’ve heard all the excuses. I can’t commit to (fill in the blank), I’m not always available, I’m too young/old, I don’t know anything about it. They are just excuses. We are all volunteers. We can when we can and we can’t when we can’t.
This is an incredible job you get paid for in ways that aren’t money. If you’ve ever thought about it, contact the VFD in your area. The hardest part, is walking through that station door the first time.
We all live in the communities we serve. How can you make a difference?
Every fire department across the country needs help.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who were affected by the tragedy that occurred this morning on Route 28 in Mt. Tremper. May God give them the strength to get through these trying times.
A very Merry Christmas from all of us here at the Ellenville Fire District.

***** FIRE SAFETY TIP *****
It's that time of the year again, to think about fire safety and your chimney. Have your chimney cleaned and inspected by a professional chimney cleaning service.
A chimney fire can extend to your home and possibly destroy it. Some of the signs of a fire in your chimney are;
Loud cracking and popping
Alot of dense smoke coming from chimney
An intense, hot smell
Flames coming from chimney
Avoid the fall rush and possibly a disaster and have your chimney cleaned and inspected prior to using your woodstove, fireplace or other home heating device for the first time this season.
