Guard Your Trees from Deer Damage!
August and September are when deer start rubbing their antlers on tree trunks, causing damage. Protect your trees, especially newly planted ones, by adding trunk protection now!
Use guards for all trees under 10″ in diameter, and keep them on throughout the fall and winter. Remove them in April. A single night can cause irreparable damage to your trees, so take action and safeguard your landscape!

Protect Your Ash Trees from Emerald Ash Borer!
The emerald ash borer (EAB), an invasive insect from overseas, has been devastating ash trees across the USA since 2002, and reached the St. Louis area in 2015. Unlike most borers, EAB targets all ash trees, healthy or not, making its impact swift and severe. If there is no intervention, they will decimate our ash populations.
We initially use the least invasive treatment (soil injections). When populations increase, we take a more aggressive and targeted trunk injection treatment.
Today, we remember and honor those we lost on September 11, 2001. This day serves as a reminder of the strength, resilience, and unity that define us as a nation.
May we always cherish the memories of those we lost and stand together in support of one another.
We are in a drought! Water your trees!
We understand that your trees are a valuable investment of both time and money. That's why our Plant Health Care Programs are specifically designed to keep your trees and shrubs as healthy and vigorous as possible.
Whether you're looking for remedial or preventative treatments, we have options that cater to your unique needs and budget. Our expertise in plant health care sets us apart from others in the green industry.
Let us develop a personalized Plant Health Care Plan just for you!

Excellent time visiting Pea Ridge Forest! We saw a small piece of their massive tree farm, saw their crews in action, learned about new trees, new pests and new landscape trends. The great food and conversation made the scorching heat bearable! Big thank you to Pea Ridge and everyone who put this event on! 🌳☀️🔥
STOP the TOP!
When you cut the top of a tree off, it reduces the tree's remaining top branches to stumps. As a result, your tree is left with weak, unstable limbs and a bare, unnatural appearance. It leads to decay, sunburn, and tree stress.
Also, your tree is much more prone to breakage and may be a risk hazard. Topping is not an acceptable pruning technique.
MFS follows pruning standards established by the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
We're Hiring: Plant Health Care Technicians, Licensed Pesticide Applicators, and Spray Technicians!
Are you passionate about plant health and care? We're looking for dedicated professionals to join our team!
While technical knowledge is crucial, excellent communication skills are equally important. As a Plant Health Care (PHC) Technician, you'll build strong relationships with our clients and become familiar with their properties, helping our sales and office staff deliver personalized service.

Lightning strikes have been a major issue in our landscapes, especially this stormy summer.
A lightning bolt contains one million volts of electricity. When it hits a tree, water and sap vaporize, and sections of bark or limbs can be blown off.
Damage might not be immediately apparent, taking months or even years to show. Healthy trees might recover, while stressed ones may not.
A glancing blow offers a chance of survival with some help. If you suspect your tree has been struck, we’d be happy to advise you!

Discover the benefits of Arborist Consultations!
Think of it as a health check-up for your trees and shrubs! Just like visiting a doctor, a Certified Arborist assesses their overall health, diagnoses issues, and recommends care strategies tailored to your landscape.
Prevention is key! Schedule a check-up with an arborist to receive a personalized plan for maintaining the health and beauty of your trees and shrubs.
Looking for restaurants/bars with private rooms anywhere the St. Louis city/county or St. Charles County for monthly meetings (Tuesday nights) that don’t charge room fees or require minimum on food.
Bagworms harm trees by eating the foliage, weakening the tree. They can damage a hedge of evergreens in just 24 hours, so most people aren’t aware of the problem until it’s too late. Be proactive to protect your trees.
If you have had damage or suspect a problem, please give our arborists a call and we’d be happy to assist!

What's blooming: Oenothera macrocarpa, Missouri Evening Primrose!
This herbaceous perennial features trailing stems often found on bluffs and rocky road cuts. Blooming from May to August, its large lemon-yellow flowers make a striking sight. However, these blooms are short-lived, opening late afternoon and closing by morning.
Keep an eye out for this fleeting yet remarkable plant!
Happy 4th of July! 🎆🇺🇸
Wishing everyone a fantastic Independence Day filled with joy, celebration, and gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy.

Watering new trees, we find, is the most difficult task to teach but critically important for the trees survival. There is no standardized timing or frequency. There is no app. Each planting site has different soil conditions and grade. Check the soil to determine what the plant needs. You cannot rely on irrigation. Water directly into the root ball. Avoid watering the leaves/needles.
Call us if you have questions about watering!

On Memorial Day, let's reflect on the significance of the poppy flower. Inspired by Lt. Col. John McCrae's World War I poem "In Flanders Fields," the red poppy symbolizes the sacrifice and bravery of fallen soldiers.
Wearing a poppy honors those who served and died for our country. It's a simple yet powerful way to show our gratitude and remember their sacrifice. Today, let's honor those who gave everything for our freedom.
