Elmira Teachers Association
Elmira Teachers Association is the union of education professionals of the Elmira City School District. ETA is affiliated with NYSUT, AFT, and NEA.
CWA at Arnot is also negotiating their contract. If you are available to support them, even for a few minutes, please stand together in union solidarity.
Come visit our ETA Social Justice Team during this event! We have book suggestions, games with prizes and bracelet making!
Don't forget to get out and vote tomorrow for school budget and school board seats! Voting is at EDA for north side and EHS for south side.
Dear teachers, teaching assistants, nurses and other school related professionals,
We see you and we appreciate you!
It has been a busy 4 days for Jen and Jill in NYC for the NYSUT RA this week. There were keynote speakers, meetings, committees, and voting on resolutions that will drive what our state union will be focusing the work on this coming year. You can also check out the NYSUT page for pictures and information.
Keep checking back for information!
Tuesday is World Autism Day. This is very near and dear to my heart. So, if you post a picture here or the other ETA group in autism awareness gear, I will put your name in for one of three $10 Jersey Mike's gift card.

Two ETA events, one FUNdraiser and one community project. Be an active union! Let's get it done!
Happy Saturday! I am going to share this in both groups. Each year I order an autism awareness t-shirt from this company. If there is an order of 12 or more we can get a free group name on the sleeve and cheaper shipping. I can deliver to buildings if we get enough people! www.workplacepro.com check them out and message me if you're interested!
Good evening all! Thank you to those of you who have completed the survey about inclusion. If you haven't, please go through this yes/no survey. Be honest. We are collecting data NOT to show that there shouldn't be inclusion, but that there are issues with the current philosophy. Read it from the perspective of doing what is best for all of our students and what we need to address immediately. The final question is for you to add any information that you think that we should have or that needs to be brought to Labor. We all want what is best for our students every single day. Thank you all. In solidarity.
Wear red tomorrow to continue our show of unity! Wearing spirit wear? That's awesome, accessorize with your ETA bracelet!
Join us for our September edition of the Speaker Series at the CCDC Headquarters in Elmira. The Chemung County Democratic Committee - working for all!

A great show of spirit and unity for the opening day ceremony. It's a privilege to be part of such an amazing group!
Take a minute to welcome all of our new educators to ECSD! They had a great opportunity to meet some of their building reps and union buddies. We're making some great connections.
A huge shout out to Alison Newkirk, Emily Solometo, Mandy Sullivan, and Jess Talada for facilitating and running a table at Strong Kids Safe Kids. We appreciate your time! They handed out hundreds of books to our local children.
Jen, Jill and Barb were out today to meet Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
Calling all ETA Members who would be willing to volunteer some of their time to our ETA booth at Strong Kids Safe Kids! We need your help to pass out books at our table to children on Saturday, August 26th. See the flyer below and contact Mandy Sullivan or Emily Solometo if you are willing to help us out. Can you spare an hour?
Presidents and Emerging Leaders Conference took place Thursday and Friday last week in beautiful Watkins Glen. In attendance was Jennifer Clark, Jill Girardi, Diana Macko, Mandy Sullivan, and Josh Teeter for ETA. They attended workshops on a variety of topics that they are excited to bring back to our membership! The president of NYSUT, Melinda Person came and visited as well as the vice president.
Jen Clark and Jill Girardi had the exciting opportunity to hear Attorney General Letitia James speak last night at the Chemung County Democratic Headquarters. She loves teachers and loves labor organization!
Support other unions this 4th of July!
Have a problem with Tier 6? So do we. In fact, a lot of our members do, too!
And for some members, the stark difference is even more on display. Despite their identical careers, mother-daughter educators Anna and Michelle Rossi’s retirement plans bear almost no resemblance to one another.
“It doesn’t add up,” said Michelle, a member of the Oneonta Teachers Association.
