It was a busy Friday for the lads, but with a total of 6 new reviews and 3 of those written, a successful day of White Glove deliveries. Thank you Andrea, Lodge and Nicolas for the reviews! Earth Day is a day to celebrate nature and see what can do to make the Earth a better place. In this newsletter, we highlight the big things we are doing to make the environment a better place starting with our carbon neutral deliveries.

A Breath of Fresh Air There are a lot of ways to celebrate Earth Day this year. You can help plant trees, clean up your local neighborhood or even install energy-efficient lightbulbs. Here at Wright Brothers, one of our favorite ways is to spend it outdoors, maybe in a park or sitting outside tracking your delivery with....

Straight edges for days!! When you can't see any glass, you know that you have edge-to-edge protection of the artwork.

This is how artwork with glass should be prepared. Today we had a piece of art come in behind glass, and it was destroyed. I can't post the picture for privacy reasons, but the glass had cracked in transit, and little pieces of the broken glass just tore and scratched the print, and the mat was destroyed.

I pulled this one out of storage to show how you should protect the glass with edge-to-edge protection to prevent any tiny shards of glass from destroying the artwork should it break in transit. The protection will strengthen the glass and hold it in place should it crack or even shatter and keep the artwork safe. Packing anything is easy; we've all done it before, but packing anything the right way takes attention to detail and knowledge.

245 years ago our founding fathers declared our independence from Great Britain and set in motion a series of events that lead to the founding of the greatest country History. It's beginning creed that each individual human has rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and the government is there to protect those rights. I hope everyone is having a great 4th of July and is enjoying the time with their family and friends, enjoying some great fireworks and good food.

I've heard that today is a day off of work, or a great day to save some money or just a long weekend. Today we honor those who gave their today for our tomorrow in defense of this country and their brothers and sisters in arms. In reverence to those who have fallen, raise your glass and honor and celebration of their memory this day. Thank you for sacrificing everything in this nations defense of liberty and thank you to all of the Gold Star families who also gave the greatest sacrifice.

Last week we had a beautiful silver plater wrapped up for short-term storage at a customer's facility. All of the silver products in our care are handled with new cotton gloves to prevent the natural oils on our hands and fingers from tarnishing the silver while inspecting, managing, and wrapping the pieces.

We follow this step by cleaning the items with a Hagerty silver duster to help create a tarnish-proof barrier, and the item is then wrapped in a tarnish-free silver cloth. Silver cloth has small particles of silver and zinc embedded in it that attract sulfur compounds before reacting with the item we are protecting.

If the item stays in our facility, we will store the item in an archival grade, acid-free box, with a silica gel desiccant that can be reactivated when they become saturated. Suppose we are shipping the item for a customer. In that case, like we were here, we will wrap the pieces with multiple layers of small bubble wrap, followed by large bubble wrap with disposable silica gel packets in the archival quality acid-free cardboard boxes.

Silver protection needs to be thought of as multi-pronged coordination of elements to prevent tarnishing and damage while in storage. Each layer of protection you can add will mean the silver charged to your care will look as good the day it was picked up. Even if it isn't us, please make sure that you contact professionals who know how to handle your antique silver items. Anyone can pack anything, but it takes a professional to understand how to do it Wright 😜.
