Trident Stock Car Nationals

Another Compact being featured in our Trident Featured Driver segment is Tim Kalp II from Barnhill, OH!

Kalp technically did not start the A Main, however, qualified his way in with the No Heat format we utilized in 2023 due to rainy weather. Kalp was unable to stay for Sunday’s feature, therefore could not start the race as planned. We hope Tim is able to get his redemption in 2024 and make some noise once again!

Timmy is a Part Time Compact driver primarily at Midvale Speedway in his Cobalt. Kalp is always a contender when he shows up to his home track and has began to venture out here and there recently, including a few visits to Lorain Raceway Park. Although he has made a handful of appearances at LRP, Kalp has yet to find any luck at all at the 3/8th mile, sadly. But still chugging along with a great competitive spirit!

Thank you Tim for supporting the 2023 Trident Stock Car Nationals. We were saddened you were not able to compete in the Feature Event, however, we hope to see you back at Lorain Raceway Park in 2024, specifically June 29th! 🔱🏁

We have our first Compact in our Trident Featured Driver segment, the official B Main winner in the Inaugural Compact Trident, Don Rufener Jr!

An absolute fan favorite car body of a HHR from Uhrichsville, OH calls Midvale Speedway home as the Rufener family name is no stranger to victory lane at the New Philadelphia facility. The Rufener’s also have a vast amount of family history in the National Compact Touring Series with several wins on the tour as well back around the creation of the series. Don Jr has recorded several championships in Compacts and Figure Eight along with plenty of wins including a 100 Lap Feature at Painesville Speedway in 2018!

Don and his family were one of the first outspoken supporters of this Trident Compact deal and because of that we are forever thankful! The Rufener clan fielded several cars and persuaded a handful of others to join the fun.

Thank you Don and the entire Rufener clan for supporting the Trident Stock Car Nationals in 2023. We hope to see you back at Lorain Raceway Park on June 29th! 🔱🏁

Our second Trident Featured Driver is yet another veteran driver in Northeast Ohio, John Ambrose, our 2023 B Main Street Stock Winner!

From around the Akron, Ohio area, Ambrose wheeled his Stoll/Ambrose Racing #24 machine to victory in the closest finish of the 2023 Trident event with a last lap pass over Kylee Wood. Ambrose is a veteran driver that has many miles and accolades under his belt in his career, primarily between Barberton and Midvale Speedway’s respectively.

John is another example of a low budget team hitting big at the Trident! With tons of history under his belt, John has been able to flex his muscles quite a bit in the past few years, including a solid points run in the Wheelman Series before engine troubles. John and the entire Stoll Racing team eat, sleep and breathe short track racing and it was an honor to see them in victory lane at our event.

Thank you John and Ralph Stoll for supporting the Trident Stock Car Nationals in 2023, we hope to see you back at Lorain Raceway Park throughout 2024, more specifically on June 29th! 🔱🏁

We’re kicking off this Trident Featured Driver segment with our 2023 C Main Winner, Gary Hoopingarner!

Hauling from Navarre, Ohio, the Hoopingarner name has a rich history in short track racing, specifically around the Barberton and Midvale Speedway’s respectively. This short track veteran ran a select limited schedule in 2023 which included races at Lorain Raceway Park and Midvale Speedway.

To have Gary come into the Trident in one of his first races of the season, veteran driver that works primarily by his lonesome with some help from friends in the garage was a great attribute to the Trident name. Proving that you don’t need a fancy hauler or a 10 man crew to leave the Trident Stock Car Nationals with a good payday!

Thank you Gary for supporting the Trident Stock Car Nationals in 2023, we hope to see you back at Lorain Raceway Park throughout the 2024 campaign, specifically on June 29th! 🔱🏁

Street Stocks 🤝 Compacts

The inaugural running of the Trident Stock Car Nationals with Street Stocks and Compacts both participating in the ABC style format is in the rear view mirror. That doesn’t mean we can’t still look back!

2024 Rules, Procedures, Pre Registration will be posted in the month of January. We will not be releasing Entries until March. Until then, we will be highlighting 2023 C Main and B Main winners along with the entire A Main starters for both Street Stocks and Compacts.

Congratulations to the youngest Street Stock driver quite possibly in the Midwest and the youngest started in the Trident Stock Car Nationals, Joshua Way, on winning this past week’s Contest!!

With winning the contest from the help of his friends and family, Little Way has won a FREE Entry in this year’s Trident and will be featured alongside last year’s Trident winners, Troy Phillips and Matt Elsey, on the Official Event Poster!

Joshua Way Racing finished 9th in last years event. Let’s see what he can do in 2024! This young gun is at Dillon Motor Speedway for the New Years Bash this weekend. Good luck little dude!! 🏁

Last season we had an unbelievable battle between Michigan’s Matthew Elsey Jr. And Florida’s Justin Philips for the A Main win. The battle for third was awesome as well between Wisconsin’s Kyle Riedner and Ohio’s Zach Myers! 👏🏁

The 3rd Annual Trident Stock Car Nationals is BACK on June 28-29, 2024 at Lorain Raceway Park!

Last year the weather rained on our parade, however, we are very excited to bring back the same great format, same great rule package and same great on track action! Alongside the Street Stocks being the premier focal point, Compacts will also be on hand for the ABC format style with the Ace Racing League rounding out the race card!

The past two years saw absolutely amazing action and we expect nothing short of that in 2024! We are looking into different avenues as well to make this show even more of an EVENT, not just a RACE!! With some BADASS trophies already I may add! Stay tuned for that! 🏁

Why do you ask we do this? So at the very least if we don’t get this show in today, we don’t have a super long day Sunday with drivers traveling back to their homes with work on Monday!!

Entry Fees cover the drivers pit pass for Friday and Saturday. So it’s crucial to have that money accounted for from each driver asap!

Schedule of Events for this weekend’s Mars Trucking Trident Stock Car Nationals Presented by BA Sweeties!!

A few notes:
- Yes, Sunday is our Rain Date. Yes, racing will start earlier to accommodate those traveling. Our plan is full GO for this weekend!!

- Compacts - You will be in groups for Qualifying for 4 Laps. I will be down in the lineup chute sending cars out in equal groups. This way drivers can focus on their laps and not who’s on the track with them

- Street Stocks - Weight, frame height and track width will be checked before Qualifying in the tech garage. We have a pretty strategic system to get through tech and in lineup for Qualifying. We will discuss in Drivers Meeting. Same system as last year, worked perfect! Please get to Tech ASAP on Saturday. This is crucial to keep the show moving

- NO PERSONAL VEHICLES IN THE PITS FRIDAY OR SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!! Pits are going to be packed. Please respect this and DO NOT argue with our pit people!
