🥫 Emory & Henry University ROTC is hosting a food drive for Faith in Action. 🥫 Donations for non-perishable food items are accepted until Thursday, November 7, and can be dropped off at the ROTC Office in the Van D**e Center. Donations are also accepted at home E&H football games until Saturday, October 26.

Emory & Henry ROTC has challenged UVA-Wise ROTC to a friendly competition. The school with the most donated items will be declared the winner at the Southwest Virginia Bowl at Emory & Henry University on Saturday, November 9.

Held on the Van D**e Center Lawn at the Emory campus, The Global Street Party will kick off with live music from Florencia & the Feeling, a pop-funk fusion band based in Johnson City, Tenn. The band’s five members include Florencia Rusinol, Andrew Kramer, Isaac Ratliff, Nick Castro and Austin Herron. Their musical style blends many genres including funk, jazz, Nu Soul, jam, pop, indie rock, roots and more creating a distinctive blend.

Student organizations will be there with lots of fun activities with karaoke to top off the night!!

💙💛Faculty and staff helped out on Monday, July 29 to ready the campus for students and families to arrive for the fall semester. Thank you to all of the volunteers who painted, cleaned, and worked with the guidance of the Sodexo Facilities staff and to Sodexo Dining for providing lunch and snacks. 🏆Get ready, get set; the Food City Sports Complex is on track for this fall! The complex will be used by athletes competing in soccer, lacrosse, and track and field. The facility is intended not only to support Emory & Henry DII athletics, but also the region's youth. Workers are installing the artificial turf, a Mondo brand track, stadium lighting, a timing system and more. Completion of a press box is expected by the end of August. Drainage systems, curbing, electrical infrastructure, and a scoreboard have been installed. See the progress made, and we look forward to welcoming students back to campus to enjoy the new facility! Today is Juneteenth, noted as a federal holiday since 2021. Juneteenth recognizes the date of June 19, 1865, when the last group of people enslaved in the southern U.S. were informed of their freedom under the Emancipation Proclamation. The name, Juneteenth, is a portmanteau, combining June and nineteenth. Campus offices reopen tomorrow, on Thursday, June 20.

🎉A seasoned higher education leader, healthcare educator and senior vice president of Emory & Henry, Dr. Louise Fincher, has been named interim president of the institution following the announcement last week that current President John W. Wells will be stepping down from his position at the end of July and will transition to become the inaugural Chancellor of Emory & Henry University.

Dr. Louise “Lou” Fincher, who also serves as the founding dean of the E&H School of Health Sciences, will assume the role of interim president beginning August 1, 2024 until a successor for Wells is named by the University’s Board of Trustees.
