Good-Bye August! Hello September…

August was a month I’ll never forget. I took my firstborn daughter to college & left my heart at . So many highs & so many lows. So I welcome September with open arms… A new month comes with new adventures!

Let’s talk dorm rooms for a sec… To decorate or not?

Hmmm such a hot topic at the moment! Now that I’ve experienced it first hand searching day in & day out for Taylor’s dorm room… I’ve seen it all! Truth, at first I was in it to win it. Wanting to go above & beyond for Taylor. Hello, my first born going off to college & I’m an interior designer. Then I realized… It’s not about me. I’m not going to college. She’s living in that room, not me. So I decided to step back & let her pick out what she wanted {with in reason of course}… I think as parents we try so hard to take any unnecessary decisions away from our children even though some of the smallest & most mundane decisions can actually help a child grow!

… Well, Taylor picked out her dorm room on her own! The best thing out of it all is the purple & white Brahms Mount throw, that was from her room at home. I realized Taylor wanted to bring something that reminded her of home. Remember… Let them! At first I was shocked… Then I put two & two together… It’s comforting & calming to her. The feeling of home!

I don’t know all the generational terms… So I’m going to create my own … “Let them!” Thanks

… Let the kids fall & scrape their knees! Let the kids get a job & pay for things! Let the kids be bored & lonely! Let the kids decorate their dorm rooms!

All of this will grow some hair on their chest & be ready to conquer the world! If we don’t let them… How will they be able to make decisions for themselves in the future. Hmmm?!?! College is hard enough… Making new friends, figuring out what to do & where to go. You don’t have the comfort of mom & dad making the decisions for you. It’s all so new, but this is the time to let them grow… Feel uncomfortable. So Let Them!

What’s your feeling on decorating your child’s dorm room? Spend thousands of dollars? Or… Let them do it themselves? Hmmmm 🤔

Ok so I take two showers a day… Yup you heard that right! One when I wake up in the morning. I like starting my day off fresh & clean. I also like to take one right before I go to bed. I feel gross getting into my sheets from my dirty day. Plus, I believe I sleep through the night all clean.

Yes some people in my family think I’m absolutely crazy… But truth I’ve noticed a few copying me. If this is the worst thing I do in life… I think I’ll take it! They do say, copying a person is a sign of flattering. haha

What crazy thing do you do that your family & friends roll their eyes at or give you a hard time about?

Back to reality… & ready to conquer the world! OK truth I’m so scatterbrained right now… I can’t stand it! Seriously, if you were a fly on the wall, you would crack up. 😂 I keep talking to myself & saying…
-OK get on task
-Do this
-Do that
-Alexa, set a timer for 20 min.
-I need to make a list
-Oh write that down so you don’t forget

One moment I’m on a mission in my office & then the next I’m thinking about Taylor. 😔 I know this is all normal & to be expected when your kid goes off to college… But man it’s hard! Anyone else feeling the same way as me?

… But I have made a list of my TODO’s while Taylor’s away. Here my list:
• Workout {get super healthy}
• Clean out each & every drawer/closet/room in my house
• Add TONS of clothes to my account
• Blog more
• Have another BIG… rustic rooster Coastal WAREHOUSE S A L E {Sept. 7th} & offer a HUGE discount
• Plant my garden

That’s all I can handle right now! But I’m sure I’ll add more to my TODO’s soon! 🤪

Happy Tuesday TRUTH!

Well, it finally happened… I left my ♥️ in Ohio! Taylor’s off to college at ! I’m so excited for her next chapter in her life! Leaving my baby girl was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do… Especially that far away… But I knew this was the best thing for her! She’s going to flourish & grow so much! I’m so proud of you!

PS… is absolutely beautiful! Every inch of her campus is stunning! The gardens are so well maintained. The interior designer in me is jumping for joy that she picked such a gorgeous school! I think I’m going to live vicariously through Taylor! lol

Well, I tried something new! I stepped out of my comfort zone with this project… It’s not your typical rustic rooster job. Actually it’s far from the coastal classic designs I do, but this one just tweaked me… So I said y e s!

Truth… At first I questioned myself. Then I said, just trust the process. Well, I enjoyed the process. It’s true when they say, In life you need to push yourself & get out of your comfort zone! I did challenged myself & look forward to doing it again!

Almost to the finish line…

1.) Picked out the veggies I want to plant. &
2.) Bought the soil for my veggie planter boxes.
3.) Poured in the soil {3 bags per container}.

I do need to get a tomato cage…. & Then I need to just plant the seeds! 🙌🏻

Ok my hydrangeas are still going strong & I have no clue why! Maybe it’s my morning conversation with them that’s keeping them alive… 😂

Nothing FANCY to see here… Except that’s it’s FRIDAY, my work computer is FINALLY working, Molly got a very FUNNY haircut & I’m enjoying my FABULOUS morning coffee in peace! Ha!

I learned that when your hydrangeas have red dots on them… It’s time to trim them back. Not sure how long they’ll last inside, but they sure do look pretty right now! ♥️

It’s still summer & I’m holding on tight! ☀️

It all started with an area for Molly to use the bathroom… Hey, just keeping it real! Unfortunately, Molly was terrified of that space & never ever would go in it. Seriously, she would freeze… Walk inside & hide in her crate. Well, Molly‘s potty area took a turn into Alexandra‘s veggie garden!!! As they say another man’s trash, is another man’s treasure… So thank you Molly! 😜

This Friday the gardeners will take out the agapanthus & re-home them in my garden & I will move the planter boxes close to the white fence & off the grass. Keep you all posted!
