SWEET NECESSITIES NEWS-
Tony & I have made the hard decision to sell the shop. On June 1, the shop will be taken over by Riely & Isaiah Harris, owners of the Casting Iron. We have full faith that they will do a great job continuing to serve this community with all the delicious ice cream and candy Enumclaw has come to know and love this shop for. And they have some exciting new remodel ideas going on… hello more seating.
We have loved owning Sweet Necessities, and trying to make improvements while also honoring the traditions. When we bought the shop, I thought I was going to be the W***y Wonka. But as my schedule stayed full, Tony really became the head candy maker. He is pretty awesome at it, and also like a mad scientist always coming up with new creations. You may not know this, but I am also a child & family therapist with a very busy private practice (and the counseling business never slows down) and coach volleyball (go EMS T-wolves!). Tony is also a software engineering manager. We have two great and very busy kids. Owning the shop and having full-time careers did not leave us with the family time we enjoy to go camping, hiking, traveling, and just hanging out.
But have no fear! Tony will continue making the secret recipe caramel and supplying the shop with it. We will also continue making the freeze-dried candy, fudge, and some of the other best sellers like seafoam. So while we are passing the torch of running the shop, we will continue making candy under our new brand, Big Foot Candy Company. Same candy, new label, still found at the shop.
Some of you will be sad to find the truffles and other hand-dipped chocolates discontinued. While delicious, they are too time consuming to continue (as neither of us have 20 hours a week to hand-dip things in chocolate). Tony will be making a selection of some best-sellers and they will be available in packages at the shop. The tea is also being discontinued, so come stock up before the end of May (on sale 25% off).
Change is hard, but also brings new and exciting things. We are excited to get back to summer outings as a family, instead of always leaving Tony behind… because that ice cream wasn’t going to scoop itself! Thank you to this wonderful community for embracing us when we took over 2 years ago. Thank you to the hard-working employees we have had. Thank you to the happy little faces that told us what color sprinkles they wanted. The smell of fresh baked waffle cones is permanently embedded into our clothes, hearts and home. – Shannon & Tony

Wowsers! Lined up down the street tonight. Thank you everyone for your patience. We try to do our best to get everyone served as quick as possible out of our tiny little shop. We appreciate all the patience and kindness people are showing! Ice cream madness to close out the summer.

New flavor: Sour Splash! Watermelon, lemon and green apple sorbets swirled in a delicious, dairy-free combo. Very refreshing on these sweltering days.

Want the scoop on ice cream? You may have noticed some new flavors at the shop recently. Even ice cream is not immune to supply chain shortages. A customer was upset with us tonight that we didn't have the exact flavor of ice cream she's used to in the exact same brand the shop has always carried. While we always aim to please the customer, we can't make ice cream magically appear. We are currently sourcing our ice cream from 3 different distributors just to get enough to keep the shop stocked. We are driving all over King, Pierce and Snohomish County to bring you the best ice cream currently available. We will no longer be able to get Snoqualmie Ice Cream. Some folks will be sad their long time favorites are out of the line up. We're disappointed too. Change has caused us to branch out, and we have found some amazing ice cream for you. We roll with the punches and hope you will too. Maybe some Chocolate Mudslide or Maui Waui will ease the pain?

You don't really need a reason to get ice cream, but if you did National Ice Cream Day would be a good one. Open until 8pm tonight and stocked with all your favorites.

Ice cream bars! Vanilla ice cream hand dipped in chocolate and coated in sprinkles, peanuts or oreo crumbles. It may be more yumminess than you can handle... but it will be fun to try.

Sweet Necessities will be open today from 11am-1pm for all you 4th of July parade goers to get a treat while you're downtown. Cotton candy might pair nicely with a parade.

Join us tomorrow night at the Five2Five in Buckley for another night of live music. Family-friendly free event. You bring a blanket or chair, and I'll bring the cotton candy, caramel, fudge and freeze dried candy.

Salted Caramels

Father's Day is tomorrow? What in the Fudge! Stop by the shop today or tomorrow, or come see our pop-up booth out at Ten Trails in Black Diamond today 3:30-7pm to get the dads in your life some fudge or caramels. Or maybe he likes Freeze Dried Jolly Ranchers, we don't judge.

We had a lot of fun last night at The Five2Five's Tuesday Tunes. Such good music in a beautiful venue. Come join us June 28 5-8 for the next one. This is a free, family friendly event in Buckley.

Caramels would make a great teachers gift. Last day of school in Enumclaw is Tuesday and we're closed Mondays so you better come see us this weekend. My 10 yr old son recently told me they had a substitute in his class and him and a few boys pretended to be video game characters all day. Better get some caramels for the subs too! Oh sweet bippy and the bus drivers.

Candy Lei's for graduation, $8. I was hoping to make a bunch but only had time to make 25 or so. All gold ribbon. We are closed Monday but they will be at the shop Tuesday 12-8 if anyone wants to grab one for a grad.

Sweet Necessities will be open Memorial Day, Monday 12-8. Because Ice Cream may not be the answer, but we better check.

Freeze Dried Ice Cream is here! We are having so much fun putting stuff in the freeze drier and just seeing what happens. Freeze Drying makes ice cream light and airy but retains all the flavor. Tony is like a mad scientist, who knows what he'll do next. And he made Airheads.
