The Rio Arriba County Substance Treatment Outreach Prevention Program administers programs
Last week 20+ YCC youth participated in our week-long Power of Influence Mentorship Program at the Rural Events in Abiquiu. During the program the youth received education on the effects of alcohol; more specifically on how it disrupts the various parts of the brain that are in charge of decision making, balance, coordination and depth perception.
They were then tasked with braininstorming and creating a poster with an important message they wanted to convey to their peers. The goal is for many of the posters (including Top 3) to be promoted throughout the year via posters, t-shirts and or other media messaging opportunities.
At the end of the Mentorship Program, the posters were then up for judging. Judges were asked to score each of the posters based on a specific criteria (imagery and text, individuality, creativity and messaging). And then the winners were announced.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the following judges who dedicated their time to view and decide the Top 3 winners.

We would like to thank the following schools; including their administration and teachers, for allowing our Prevention Team to implement evidence based curriculum (Boys Council, Girls Circle and Botvin Lifeskills) in their classrooms for the 2023/2024 School Year.
We value our partnerships with the schools, and couldn't be more appreciative of the support our prevention team received during the school year. Because of this, many of our youth in Rio Arriba County were able to benefit from our services.
We look forward to partnering up with schools once more during the upcoming school year.
