Energized Aging
I regained my health 2 years ago. I want to share options I discovered. Join me on the this journey!
I am so excited to try this new offering from Earthbreeze. I have used the laundry sheets for years and I love not having big plastic jugs of detergent taking up space and adding to a landfills non recyclables! Now there is a cleaner that mixes with water and can replace the plastic cleaners I buy to do the bathrooms, etc. both are far less expensive and they donate part of the proceeds to saving the earth. It’s a Win-Win!
I would like to introduce my Personal Trainer
CeeCee! She loves squirreling, walking adventures and belly rubs. She takes me on at least 1 walk a day in different parks each day. She walks my husband too and between the 2 of us we take her on a third walk. Quite the task master!

Celebrating Small Business Day!
Happy Thanksgiving! I just had to show off my first ever homemade pumpkin pie! I decided this year to make one myself! I love cooking but baking is not a honed skill of mine. It was the first sweet condensed milk and evaporated milk I have purchased in my lifetime. Sure hope it tastes as good as it smells. I had extra mixture so made a third one w/o crust. I did use pre made Graham cracker crusts. Love trying new things! 🦃enjoy your holiday.
Becoming healthier is not about focusing on things you can’t have. It’s really about embracing what you can have! Easy choices.
What is in the way of you being the best version of you?
Put YES in the comments if you would like to be among the first to know what deals are opportunities will be available with our health and wellness products!

I chose Trimstix! My favorite is orange-pineapple. 🍍🍊
Autumn leaf hack! We have huge maple trees that are starting to do their thing. My husband John and I start every morning with our “sunshine in a bottle”.
We feel energized and it’s a plant based supplement that helps with energy and mood. We used to have over 100 bags to fill. John came up with the practice of using a tarp, making leaf burritos and he dumps them in the back of the pickup. There’s a tarp on the bottom and when he gets to leaf dump site he just pulls on the bottom tarp and boom, they come right off the truck.
Oregon has a robust recycling program and we are happy to separate items and ready the for recycling. The recycle stations ran into a hiccup when the purchasers of used plastic items stopped accepting items due high labor of cleaning the containers. So containers that hold detergent are no longer recyclable curbside. I found these fantastic laundry sheets! So easy, 60 loads for $12. I take a sheet and mix in a little cup with water and pour in the detergent area of the washer. They can be ordered on subscription and I literally feel joy walking down the aisle at the grocery knowing I don’t have to lug a jug home!
What is your favorite recycling habit?
My family enjoys my special white sauce enchiladas. They are low carb, low calorie and high protein. They are delicious! I never have to worry about left-overs. If you would like the recipe please say “please send” in the comments. Ole!
Today is National Football Day and the Oregon Ducks are playing the Colorado Buffaloes. It just so happens it’s National Buffalo Day too! Go figure!! I am a little torn. I was born in Colorado but I have lived most of my adult life in Oregon.
When I retired for the second time, I was exhausted and in pain. I was also very nervous about being disconnected in the middle of Covid. I was fortunate enough to have a friend, Cynthia, who introduced me to Xyngular and I was able to get myself in better shape physically in just nine months. My Xyngular coaches, Elizabeth and Christine, support me and they have Introduced me to a multi-age community online. I have made new friends, like Rachelle. That sense of belonging got me in better shape mentally. I began coaching my friend Judy and now we work together to coach others to become better versions of themselves. I never dreamed I could make friends across the country without ever leaving home!
I love my Chocolate Lean Shake to start my day!
👍🏻Mixed with unsweetened almond milk and sometimes PB2, and my Probiotix it’s a low calorie, low carb, and 10g protein w/ essential amino acids.
👍🏻 I blend with ice in the summer and on chilly days I enjoy it hot w/ zero sugar whipped cream!
👍🏻 If I have a meeting or I’m traveling I just use my shaker bottle and can mix it with water. No plastic bottle to throw out or recycle.
Sorry McDonald’s! You are no longer on my breakfast menu!
My sister often uses the phrase “It’s a do-do”. Meaning when something happens somewhat magically but seems to be in the bigger plan of life. John and I met 10 years ago through my brother-in-law. John started doing landscaping for me. John had never been married and I had been on my own for a long time. In talking about the past, we discovered we had actually lived just blocks from each other at three different locations in the Eugene and Springfield area as early as 1979! Bizarre!
Here we are getting married in 2015 in our sixties! I am so thankful I made the decision to start my health journey in 2020 and say goodbye to 80 pounds and hello to a healthier me. In fact, it was one of John’s old friends that helped me get started with a great program. In 2021, John made the decision to get healthier too. We now walk this precious dog CeeCee 3 times a day! She’s our “child” and we want to enjoy her and each other as we move on in life! Have you experienced a “do-do”?
The start of the Fall season is a great time to enjoy a variety of squashes. Here’s a quick trick I learned to make it easier to get them ready for cooking.
Wash the squash, then poke a couple of holes (vents) in the body of the squash. Place in the microwave for 5 minutes. Remove with hot pads. Now you can cut the stem end off and bottom off and then cut in half. The squash just softens a bit in the microwave making it easy to cut open.
Scoop out the seeds, place face down in pan, add a cup of water and cover with foil. Cook at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes. Remove from pan and steady w/ hot mitt and scoop out the “meat” in a bowl. Now you can make it savory or sweet or buttery.
Squash is my go to, instead of potatoes. Higher nutritional value and less carbs.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Did you know that the strains of healthy bacteria in probiotics have names and specific jobs they do for your body? I was so intrigued to find out what they do! The Lead Scientist at Xyngular explained how the Complete Probiotic has 11 strains and 20 Billion CFU's. I knew about gut health. I had no idea it could help with digestion, mood, and weight loss too!. I learned the best time to take a probiotic is first thin in the morning before you even smell food.. I love it's in a special container that does not have to be refrigerated.. John and I have both had great results..
My mother stayed on with me after my father passed away 22 years ago. She is 92 and approaches each day with a smile. Her health issues exist, but do not deter her from enjoying her life. Having her here at home during Covid was very fortunate for her and us. She had lived through the scare of polio and hence didn't learn to swim till she was 29. She lived through World War II. She lost both of her parents before she was 40. She is resilient!
When I was a kid there was a television show called Daktari filmed in Africa. It was all about working with the wondrous animals of the jungles and Savannah's. I wanted to be a veterinarian and go to Africa. At age 13, I was privileged to work with our small town's only vet. He even let me come into surgery so I could see what it was all about. I loved the caring for the animals but in high school, physics and chemistry were not my strongest subjects. So I followed a different path to become a teacher. From teaching, I went into what became a life long passion of managing and teaching all aspects of water recreation and fitness and facility management.
